I started vaping abour 2 weeks ago with ejuice (malaysian). Not sure of the nic content but its red, it says medium.

Within days I cut down my analogs to approx 3/day from 1 pack/day.

No coughing at first, but just recently, I started coughing. I have been playing around with the voltage settings, and is now set to around 4 - 3.5 volts, using a 1.8ohms coil.

For some reason, the coughing is almost in every drag.

did I do something wrong?

I drag into my mouth, then the lung.

I think everyone has to adjust to vaping. There is a lot yuck that is probably working its way out also. Sure hope this is temporary and I look forward to reading about your successful vaping.

You are so new to vaping that your lungs may be clearing themselves of all of the tar and other junk that is in there from smoking. Also, it could be the flavor or the PG that is making you cough.

If you are able to get a higher VG juice and possibly a different flavor, you may want to try that first.

Hang in there and good luck!

probably the juice. most likely due to high pg content. try a juice with at least 60% VG and see.. Also make sure your device isn't giving off too much air to vapor ratio. You don't want too much air in the mix. That can also make you cough. I would think you need more vg..

If you can find a juice there with higher VG, try it, you can buy VG in most pharmacies and just add a little to your bottle of juice. vegetable glycerin. shake well after adding.. It is thick stuff, so dont add too much or it will diminish flavor greatly.

It sure does. I accidentally bought a 250ml of VG tobacco and can't use it. Couldn't taste a thing.

Thank you guys for all the advice. Im not coughing much now. Probably from many factors mentioned.

ive always been confused reading about PG/VG. It looked like "Parental Guidance" and "V*G***l" juice.

But aside from that I know what they stand for, its just that Im not really sure what they do. I know one of them create more flavor and the other more vapor.

Ive decide change to different eliquid, ive been told my coughing is also due to too much sugar content in the Malaysian ejuice. Hopefully the new ones works out better.

    Cheers

PG = more flavor VG= more vapor, it's thicker and a little harder on your atomizers.

While it could be that you are getting rid of lung junk, there are other things that could be causing this. There are a LOT of people here who are sensitive to PG, as in ANY PG. I am one of them. Dries the mouth and throat out at anything higher than 10%, makes me cough and dry hack. I make my own VG-only juices, thinned with distilled water, which actually opens the flavors up. Anything that thins VG will open flavors up, and it does not have to be PG or alcohol.

Another possibility: the flavoring. There are some flavors that simply make me cough...thus I don't vape them. Flavors are personal: one person's heaven is another person's hell. And too much flavoring will almost always make me cough, regardless of the flavor. They can do that. Many vendors sell overly flavored juices for the US. Most in the EU are about 5% flavoring or less. US commercial juices can be as much as 40% flavoring, and 20% is common.

Because of my sensitivities to PG and flavorings, I make my own juices. Way cheaper too. But then again, I'm a chemist, and figured out how to DIY within the first couple weeks of vaping. Never looked back, vape commercial juice maybe once a year at most.

I love RY4 Double from TPA, but it makes me cough. Love Capellas Milk Chocolate Toffee...makes me cough, so I don't vape it. Flavors are not always benign. Cinnamon wrecks me: coughing, sore throat, mouth sores, gastric issues. Fine and loved by many, but not me.

Coughing can mean your lungs are telling you they do not like something. Not hard to figure out what that something is.

And thinned VG juices are no harder on attys than PG juices. Thick VG juices, unthinned, will cause attys to need to heat more to vaporize the liquid, so could be thought of as harder, but often with that comes bad wicking and juice flow, which will promote decomposition. Which can also make you cough! Thick juices do well in bottom coil tanks, but not very well in top-coil cartos/clearos.

Because you describe this as coughing with almost every hit, I strongly suspect this is a flavor issue. Try unflavored with otherwise same nic/PG/VG content, and if it stops then you will know. Good luck!

    Good luck!

Coughing is normal as your lungs start to clean out, but if it is happening with every drag, then it might also be aggravated by something in your setup
