So I just finished my first 24 hours with my brand new JOYE510 from smokey treats. So far, I am very undecided about how i feel about the whole vaping thing. First off, it doesn't matter how many posts are written, diagrams drawn, videos filmed, etc, when the first one is sitting in your hands, its a whole new ball game. I have no idea if I charged my batts long enough (theyre dying after about an hour), I'm pretty sure I've got a bumb atty, and the second atty isn't very satisfying. I'm not sure if I'm producing the amount of vapor I should be, I don't know if what I'm feeling in my throat is a TH or the primer melting my esophagus. I'm not getting any taste (neither sugary nor plasticy), nor am I getting any buzz at all (just a stomach ache). Basically, I am in major need of some encouragement that it will all get better. I have a DSE601 and 801 on the way from ruyan, some new flavors, and some back up parts for my 510, and I need someone to tell me I didn't drop $300 for nothing.
I wish I wasn't the first one of my friends to start vaping, because I need a live tutorial right about now.

please make me feel better :)

Frankly, if I had an experience like that I'd send it back for a refund, cancel the other orders and smoke tobacco instead.

I'm not sure what flavor you're using -- but as one newbie to another (and I use a Joye510), here's what I do with a new cart:

I place about 8-10 drops on the dry filler (that polyfil stuff). It will usually start to pool after 6-7 drops, but I use a toothpick to sort of jiggle the filler so the liquid drains into the filler material.

Then, I place two drops on the atty itself... just let it drip right on top of that thing that heats up in there. Then, I put the unit together and with my manual battery, I give it one short press (and listen for the little gurgling noise coming from the atty).

Then, I vape. I can usually get several good vapes in before I top it up.

When I top up, I put about 2-3 drops on the filler and 1-2 drops on the atty. I just kind of eyeball it -- depends on how dry the filler looks.

Maybe that will help you some.

Lol.. I kinda felt the same way. I'm the first around my friends and co workers to even see one. At first it really tasted kinda bad. I just sat there and puffed through a cart without really inhaling. They kinda have a learning curve i think... a little. but my suggestion is bear through it and puff away.. i got through my atty primer in a few hours though. i have a dse901 but my battery's last a good bit. Honestly i didn't really feel a buzz like you would with a cig. I think it is the carbon monoxide or some other chemical in the cigs that give that to you...

However i've only been E-smoking for 5 days now so I'm not too educated in this yet... though i've been scowering this forum like crazy.

look at the "straw MOD" thread... do a forum search.

I hated my 510 before I put that little straw in the cartridge. poor vapor, no flavor, and weak throat hit. Once I performed this quick and easy MOD, It holds up to the hype!

The thread mentions coffee straws as the preferred medium, I used the tubing from dollar-store q-tips (i have hundreds...)... But any tiny straw will work.

This makes refilling, or topping-up much easier as well.

Your batteries are fully charged when the Light on the charger turns from red to green. But with heavy usage, I wouldn't expect much more than an hours use from each. You will probably need several spare batteries, atomizers, and another charger, You could grab another kit from RuyanDirect.com for about $40 shipped. Also get a DC adapter while you're there, for $2, this will save you lots of headache.

And dont waste the money on a USB passthu, it sucks. Just get some spare batteries, and read the Modders forum. that or save for a GG.

PM if you have any more Q's..

Stick it out man..there is a break in period and you have to kinda baby them things a little...I wish I knew more about the model, but i can tell you whatever model your using stick with it...Its gonna change your whole life...The money is definatley not wasted...You should charge all batteries for at least 6 hours initially and then 4 to 6 hours after initial charge...Be care dripping while your atyys connected to battery...this is not conducive to battery life...Good luck and Im sure some more people will be on here to help you...

Young... I agree on the straw mod, it works wonders, I have to fill my carts a lot less often.

As for the 510, did you get the auto or manual? It's tough to give much assistance without that important detail. I personally prefer the manual switch and with that one you don't really have to worry about dripping because the battery is sealed. I feel I get a lot more vapor and better throat hit with the manual as well. The key I think is that the manual switch allows you to heat that atty before you puff so you don't have to drap as long and hard.

You also don't puff on an e-cig, you drag and it should be longer than a normal drag on a cig. It's definitely is a learning curve in that respect. I got lots of juice in my mouth trying to figure it out initially. Once you figure it out, I think you will change your mind. It really can be quite frustrating at first.

I would also do what Fresca stated and drip a few drops of e-liquid on a new atty. I would even recommend letting it sit for 5 minutes or so after doing so to give it a chance to soak it up. I find some attys have that awful primer taste while others don't.

There is also a break-in period with new attys. You may find you don't get a lot of vapor initially, but in a day or two it increases.

Good luck to you and don't give up just yet. Some find it much less stressful to slowly reduce the analog usage versus cutting it off right away. I stopped the day I started the e-cig, but that doesn't work for everyone.

You can do this, it really does get better. :)

Drewsworld is right, stay with it. I don't have a Joye, but the vid that Agnes posted should be v. useful for you. When you get your PV running properly with flavours you like and have enough spares, you may well find that you can ditch the analogs. Take it easy, and keep your mind open. Meanwhile learn as much as you can from video reviews of the PV you bought and the videos stickied in the New Members' Forum.

Best,

C.

I have a 510 manual with camel and mint flavors (low, high, and ultra). I have been dripping 1-2 drops on atty everytime the vapor gets really thin. I've followed everything I've read/watched to a T. The strw mod was great at first, but my second attempt failed miserably, leaving me with lots of liquid in my mouth. My first mod worked great at first, but now I can't really tell the difference between it and the prefilled carts from smokey treats.
My second atty is definitely toast. Bummed about that. I've been smoking the good one and have a backup on the way from ruyan. I think I sort of expected this to be like a much cooler hookah, and I would be able to puff on it all day. But if I look at it as a cig replacement, and only use it when I want a cig, it makes it much more enjoyable. It did keep me down to one analog yesterday and so far one today (although it is only 430 am). Feeling a bit better about it today I guess. Thanks for your support :)

It's not the same as smoking an analog for sure. I'm on the third day with my 510 and I do enjoy it more than my 901 and 801. Got the PCC for the 510 and that helps with the battery issue. You can keep one charging while you're vaping one. It took a couple hours to break in the atty. Then I kept flooding it and having to blow it out the first day. I use a syringe to top off the cart and drip a drop or two directly on the atty occasionally then when I top off the cart. I top off frequently.
