I've been vaping for a year now... it seems every week a new mod is coming out with more watts, bigger tanks, lcd screens, etc. Then there's these people who take this on a whole new level; cloud chasers. I just recently heard about all this sub-ohming. I mean, I get plenty of warm vapor from my Halo Triton vv that I started with a year ago... I also wanted to SAVE money. So anyone around here still using a "basic" or "intermediate" setup? I have no desire to get into mods/mechmods/sub-ohming at this time... but I wouldn't mind a Provari. :p

You're better off if your rig suits you. Your wallet will thank you. I speak from experience. If you've been good with your Halo for a year, that's great. Chasing after the latest and greatest, or fancy, shiny, more powerful, what have you, costs. I got into dripping, mechanicals, sub-ohming, all of it . I still have my Egos that I started with and quit smoking with. Keep it up, and you'll be a non-smoker with money in your pocket.

been using my egos for a good 4 years til this year. bought me a dna30 device and 2 rebuildables. Glad i did too. I doubt im going to be spending tons of $$ on mods and rdas, but im definitely glad i got a vv/vw device because the vape is much better than an ego, i was getting bored/unsatisfied with my egos and was tilting on whether to pick up a pack of smokes a few times.

I'm actually finding the eGo setups to be too overpriced. The cheap ones break too easy and products like the Triton to be extremely overpriced. I mean for about the cost of a Triton starter kit, you could get an MVP, iStick, iPV Mini, etc and a Nautilus.

yeah thats true now that i look at it. most of the spinner type egos are around 20-25$ for a batt without the tank/charger/accessories. where the eleaf istick 20w is around 30-35$ for the battery incl charger.

Yep. And I like how these bigger products are more durable and easier to keep track of. I've lost or broke a good many eGo type batteries.

I decided I was wasting my money when I went to buy my third stick. By the 5th stick I decided, "to hell with it!" and got dove into an SVD and I haven't looked back ...

... until now. Looking at my (rather small) collection of gear I can see that I probably would have save a bunch of money had I stuck to the eGos. But then again, I really blame this all on my first Spinner (stick #4).

I have 2 650mah batteries and 1 900mah Variable Voltage(all Tritons) and 7 tanks. They lasted me all year. Tanks are still good too. I am however getting another starter kit and new tanks/coils cause I have a feeling my luck will run out soon. Looks like I'll be spending about 85.00 a year on hardware if this cycle continues... is that too much??

EDIT: That's not including the juice I buy weekly. Prolly spending around 50 to 60 a month on liquid... helluva lot cheaper than smokes!!

nothing is too much imo, if youre spending less than you would if u were smoking thats an added benefit. i used to spend probably around 100$ a month on cigarettes, now i just splurge every 6 months with supplies and mods, around 300$ worth of supplies/mods/juice for every shopping period. im sure its less if you just stick with the necessities, but recently ive been stocking up on longer lasting mods, and trying out new rda's.

given if i just bought what i 'needed'.

~40$ 4-6mo worth of unflavored vg 18mg nic juice 250ml+ DIY flavorings
~20$ 6mo worth of kanthal
~20$ years worth of japanese cotton on amazon

those are the necessities n my budget as i see them, then this holiday season i bought a solara dna30 and ordered a rdna40 vaporshark (~400$) that will last me throughout the entire next year+.
3 rebuildable atomizers, around 20$ each. i should be set for the entire year+ probably just have to drop another 50$ on juice around the summer.

before this i was using ego type batteries since 2011/2012, but the quality of vape on recent vv/vw gear is just beyond satisfying than what you can get with the old type ego batteries. with all the money i saved up i figured id try the new vv/vw devices with some rdas for home use and wasnt dissapointed. the vape is so satisfying that i rarely feel the need to vape in public, at the most i leave my vape gear in my car and vape while im going places. I mostly vape at home anyways, and i dont care if im holding a boxmod at home and dripping stuff and looking like some weird biochemist at my desk.

I wish I was spending less but that's not the case. Before vaping, I was smoking RYO cigarettes.

I still have one Ego left that works. It's a 600maH fixed voltage and I use it sometimes for nostalgia. I used to run 4 1100maH twists...they all died within a few months. So I went on to 18650 devices, which is cheaper for me in the long run than buying replacement ego's all the time.

Those 5 ego's alone were over $70.
My mech, RDA and intellicharger were about that.

Ironically I use my eGos more than my Provari, but I'm a sub-ohm mech modder all day every day, with the eGos being sort of a backup.

I thought my Provari was the bomb diggity and I made fun of sub-ohmers for being obsessive about cloud chasing. And many of them are pathetically obsessed in a sense but I am convert to low nic (2.5mg) and TONS of vapor and have gone as high as 24 gauge wire, and no lower than 0.3 ohm so far.

Nothing comes close IMO, other than amping up the watts (no pun intended) with a crazy high-watt APV. You are nowhere close to truly tasting juice on any eGo setup, period, and I say this with 5 years of experience in the vaping world.

I picked up my first tube mech mod (Smok Magneto) and for $60 along with a $30 Zenith V2 RDA, and I am 100% ready to sell off the Provari. I will keep my small army of eGo twist batteries for various reasons, like the cute little suction cup bases, and I have some tiny ones that I use periodically for .......reasons. Stealth vaping with a $5 tiny eGo is cool.

I got another $60 mod, a Stingray clone, another Zenith V2 (this is the RDA to go with if you like cool airflow) and seriously, I am a total sub-ohm convert. I have 3 sony VCT4 batteries, 3 MXJO batteries, 2 LGs...

I have a TON of tanks including Protank II, III, T3s, EVOD, etc and I only keep them around for desperation. I *might* dust off the Russian 91% rebuildable tank but I haven't gotten sick of direct dripping yet; I started "direct dripping" on a "mech mod" 3.7V box mod with a 306 atty years ago,and with dual coils and tons of organic cotton, I get enough hits per "wetting" of the wick to keep me happy now.

In my first phase of vaping BTW I hated eGo batteries because they died all of the time. This was the 2009-2011 era. Since then none of my twists have died but I don't use them much. I do remember getting the Provari specifically because I was sick of replacing eGo batteries, and was able to live for almost 2 years with quantity 4 18650 AW IMR batteries.
