Hi Guys,

I just got into this mech mod game and I'm getting frustrated already. Earlier in the day everything was fine and well, and now my Stingray X Clone won't fire at all. On top of that I think I screwed in the top connection ring on too tightly to the battery tube...I'm going to try rubber gloves later on.

Any ideas as to why the mech mod won't be firing? Both batteries I have tried are fully charged.

HELP!!!! :mad::mad:

Remove the battery for starters...

Check it's voltage...

If all's well then good... leave the battery out while you do the rest of your inspection. If it's dead or under 2.5 volts you've got problems. If it's 3.5 or better then move on to the rest ... (I always charge at 3.7 actually)

Remove your attie and then the top ring...Inspect the connector to make sure all is well...lube the threads and reinstall the top ring only at this point.

Then you should remove and inspect your switch closely..Best thing is to disassemble, clean thoroughly, lube the slidey bits and reassemble the switch.

Then FIRST--install your Attie and then your battery making sure to tighten just enough to stop any battery rattle plus a skosh..maybe 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch at most.

See if it fires...post back with your results!

PS--Also...I know it's a stupid question but is your lock ring spun up to allow the switch to make contact?

I just got these batteries 2 weeks ago from my cousin's store, so it shouldn't be defective as it was firing up until today and both were fully charged.

The 510 connector right now is screwed tight on to the top cap..........Quite frustrated with myself...

The Switch was screwed all the way tight...noticed the button stopped getting pushy.

Multimeter and learn to use it.

Fix for your problem is likely only 5 minutes away, unfortunately we cannot read it for you.

Multimeter will:
Confirm battery voltage
Confirm Switch function
Confirm power through center pin of cap
Confirm power passing through Atomizer
Confirm Coil builds

Damn they are handy :D

Check the top pin. The stingrays have a floating top pin and I have had one stick before. Push it all the way up from the inside and then screw your atty all the way down. I have three stingrays. My phantom brass is over a year old and still my favorite mech. Then by the time I saw the copper ones, they were all sold out so I picked up a $50 ( red copper stingray ) clone. It's a good clone but the top button was a tight fit and the locking ring threads are not the same as the original, takes forever to screw off and on. The ( real one is like less than one turn ) not what I was expecting! They finally had there last release of the JDTECH Red copper and I grabbed one. It works even better than my old phantom brass one. The switch is real smooth! JDTECH suggest to lube the switch with Vaseline. I tried that on my old one because it was a little crunchy if you don't hit it right in the middle. It helped for a while then it got gunked up and I cleaned it out. Been running it dry since and it works just fine.

^^I agree with this. I would check that 510 pin on the top cap was actually making connection to the atty on top. I had this problem before and it took forever to figure out what it really was, I went through everything thinking it was something else. If I was you I would use the hybrid top cap and see it that fires it before anything else to rule some things out. And like said before me, I will warn you, be extra careful when taking apart this switch in particular. I did and like an idiot snapped one magnet, turns out these magnets arent easy to find. Ive looked everywhere and on every site, still cant find them. Had to buy a whole other mod just for the switch. Best of luck!

Thanks for the tips guys. I left it alone and it started vaping again the next day so it was kind of strange. I still would like to see if I can get the top ring off. I'm not sure if that's on too tight. My buddy suggest running it under water and seeing if that would help the cause. Any one know if this is a good idea? Obviously I would not do it if it's going to have a long term affect on my mech mod. I love the size of it.

I recently also just picked up the Nautilus Mini as well and that thing vapes like a beast!

Pop it in the freezer for a couple minutes. Take everything out of it, battery and topper. That works a lot of the time
