I called the post office this morning, to my utter amazement the lady that answered the phone was incredibly rude, not so much in what she said, but how she said it, her tone of voice. She told me to wait until today's mail was delivered, that maybe for some reason they did not deliver it on Saturday. If it did not come today I needed to file a police report. I told her I had already filed a police report, she said I had jumped the gun on filing a report. She also told me tracking is not always accurate and people needed to have more patience. (patience  for vape mail:confused:) I bit my tongue and continued to be polite, I may need her help later. My SO is down at the mail box waiting for the mail lady, setting up and camouflaging the trail camera.

In my experience with the USPS that is pretty typical of the way they handle things. I have chosen to use their 800 number and make my reports there. Then someone will at least at some point in time follow up plus forward the information to the local PO.

The problem I've been having is even when a package is supposed to be signed for my mail carrier will leave it in the mailbox without even attempting to come 25 feet to my front door for a signature.

I've had so many arguments with my postal carrier about this... government workers are the laziest bunch of people I've ever come across. Even someone asking for money will run 25 feet to your car to collect 25 cents. None the less, the complaints don't do much if any because my postal carrier continues to do what he wants... so frustrating.

Priority does not require a signature unless requested by the sender. The art supplies were sent priority so there is $50 insurance on them. By the time all this happened yesterday it was to late to call the post office, they close at noon on Saturday. I will be there 1st thing tomorrow morning. Then I will rent a mail box at the post office. I learned a couple lessons the hard way. Even rural, off the beaten path living has crime. Karma will bite them in the .....

I'm really sorry to hear this...we got a PO box to send all our business stuff to just for this reason 6 years ago. The bonus was when our former bank (BoA) refused to act on our fraudulent activity claim...they stated they sent us new cards and someone must have stolen them out of our mailbox. It was not time for new cards, they sent too many cards & cards with the wrong name on them according to their records AND all our banking stuff goes to a PO box so nothing was stolen. Someone working for BoA must have taken the cards and sold them. They honestly weren't going to take our word that we weren't traveling and weren't interested in giving our money back. We raised holy hell in their office until they gave us our money back, then closed our accounts since they weren't interested in "fixing" the problem...still unwilling to put a fraud alert on our account and change cards, etc. I'll never go back to standard mailbox now. Once we move, everything will go through our PO box. I would be silly ...... if I were in your shoes. I sure hope you can find some peace of mind... (((hugs)))

Nothing came in the mail today. Our regular mail lady is a gem, Saturday it was another guy, but she vouched for him, also said she would call him. So, I went to the PO in TN and rented a mail box, then I went to my regular post office, they were even ruder in person than on the phone. The lady told me "there is nothing we can do, once it is in your box it is not our problem". I asked her about the insurance on the one package, she said the sender had to file it. The supplies I ordered are from a small one person business (Enchanted Gallery). The owner is on vacation till Thursday. I will have to to send her a copy of the police report I have to go get, then she will have the hassle of filing the claim.... this does not make sense, I paid the money, she mailed the goods, this is not her fault, I am the one who did not receive my merchandise, it would make much more sense to me that I would file the claim. I so frustrated at this point if I were a drinker I would be plastered. Tomorrow is another day, it will be better than today.

I think the sender should be responsible, I mean if the sender doesn't insure it that's their fault why should you have to eat the cost? I never understood that...everyone should insure packages IMO. It's not your or the senders fault it got stolen but ultimately the sender should be responsible until it's in your hands. Sorry for the bad luck I hate thieves

She did insure my package, it just seems to me since it was stolen from my mail box and the police report was filed here, by me, that the insurance claim should be filed by me, not the seller in Oregon.

BTW Superstardj....Maggie Valley is so pretty :)

@Rhapsodies Fire...Thank you for the hugs, I needed them :(

It's one thing that has always puzzled me about America, their reliance on mail boxes - almost everywhere else on the planet they have letter boxes on front doors, so that the mail ends up inside the house, I think if I lived somewhere remote, I'd rather have a secure mail point where I could go to pick up parcel mail (post office box sort of thing)

The thought that the homeowner might also be a gun owner usually prevents things like this from happening.

And our dang mail carriers would never stand for having to get out of the truck at every house.

Especially true here in the Appalachians... everyone has guns...multiple guns.

Sorry to here your bad luck. I'm constantly fighting with my local Post office they are the laziest bunch of overpaid individuals on the earth. My last package that Had to be signed for was left in my mailbox with the signature card and a pen. On at least 6 occasions just this year I have checked my Tracking info see that my packages where delivered but when I get home noting. My post man just marks it as delivered and takes it back to the post office. Then I need to take 45 minutes ot of my day and gas money to go pick it up at the post office and I never get a answer as to why it was marked delivered but I had to pick it up at the post office. My postman has also tried to jamb so many packages in my mail box he had dislodged it from the post instead of walking the 20 yards to my door. His newest trick is to just set the packages on top of the mailbox so they can blow off or get rained on.

Right now Im waiting for about 150$ of vape mail that was sent out by the Vendor but never made it to the vendors Post office. The post office "Lost" over 20 packages that the vendor shipped out that day. I have also been waiting for over 10 days now for some kind of response from FastTech support when my First and last order from them got to my house and it was a empty envelope.

Best of Luck
MM

I used to have my print shop in NYC, right next to the Holland tunnel. Back then it's where all the printers were. After 9/11, the city, state and fed. gov't gave a ton of money to the local businesses downtown to install security cameras. They gave me 40k to install security cameras on my floor of the building, and I "re-purposed" some of the funds to install cameras around my house. I have never had anything stolen and ups and usps always leave my packages on my top step, and I in a corner house right off a main street 3 blocks away from a highschool. While I doubt the gov't is going to fund your security system, a dummy camera or two right aimed at your front door will make anyone second guess thieving.

Wow, I guess I'm lucky. I've had no issues with my PO yet. They are all nice when I go in there. But leaving mail on TOP of the mailbox?!

Many years ago......the rural carrier in our town used to "secure" packages to the box.....with RUBBER BANDS!!
This was back in the days of mail-order record clubs....that's 12" VINYL LP's, folks.....
Use your imagination.....think Winter....with wet snow banks....and plow trucks......!!
My mother wanted to remove our carrier of his manhood more than ONCE!!!;)
Happy (vaping) Trails!
