I think I've lost my mind with this one.
I just couldn't get past the idea of having separate LEDs for power and for vaping.

So..... This is what I've ended up with.

Where is the Parmesan cheese....Only kidding, when you draw it, it does get messy. I am not sure if you are asking but, that drawing looks correct to me.

If that is the madvapes regulator you might want to think about adding a heat sink.

Thanks. You're the second one to confirm I'm on the right track here, so I feel a little more confident about it.

OK, I'll look into it. That's the first I've heard about needing a heat sink with these. Do they really get that hot from a 5-6 second vape?

BTW- Big Blue is what my daughter calls our Chevy HHR.

Well if you want to neaten things up you can use one bi-color LED with one resistor.

You could use the green leg for when the kill switch is on, then wire the fire switch to the red.

3mm Red/Green Dual color LED

One side would be green, the other side would be red. If both positive leads are connected it defaults to red


Would be kinda sweet. Green when just on, changing to red when you vape.

Start drawing.

Cool, I didn't know about the defaulting properties with those, would be much more elegant. For a heatsink, just a small piece of flat metal on the back, could be screwed on. Wicking heat away from the reg is the desired effect. Copper is great, alu is good.

Hmmm, just a thought, trying to make it easy. How about a copper machine screw, with a bolt on the end flush with the plate?

Certainly wouldn't hurt. The more material going away from the regulator the better, so a longer screw would be even better. I'm going to make a little flat spiral with heavy gauge bare copper wire with little antennas to dissipate elsewheres.

Looks ok, if I read it correctly. Its kinda messy.
FYI, you don't have to wire the power LED to the ground pin of the regulator, you can wire it straight to the ground of the battery supply.
That may save you space, may not.

It's hard to determine where the actual wiring will be until I get all the stuff.
I wanted to be sure I knew what was going on in there before I started buying pieces and parts and THEN trying to figure it out.
