This is a review of the Backwoods Brew Applewood Tobacco E-Liquid 24mg.
I started vaping February of 2008. Of course I started on Chinese Dekang liquid, because that's all there was at the time. A few months ago, I became very bored with my equipment and my liquids. My whole vaping experience had become bland. I was ready to quit vaping, but that meant going back to tobacco, and I really didn't want to do that...
Every week, I was reading rave reviews of USA made liquids from a bunch of suppliers. I was ordering a few bottles a week, much to the chagrin of my wife and my bank account. Everything I got was pretty much the same.
Either the liquid was tasty, but dark brown, or clear but with no throat hit, or smooth but tasteless... It seemed like the holy trinity of Flavor, Throat Hit, and Color (consistency) was out of my reach.
I struck up a conversation with Don and I could immediately tell I was on to something. This guy was serious about quality. All his ingredients, including the Nicotine, were of the highest quality. He wasn't just dumping generic flavorings into spiked Glycol. I ordered a couple flavors from him with high hopes.
Well, two minutes after I dropped some of the Applewood Tobacco on my atty I had to call Don and congratulate him! AMAZING!!! And this is from someone who has been trying just about every USA made juice out there!
The first thing that you will notice is that the liquid is nice and clear. It is also the perfect consistency: not syrupy, and not runny. The smell of it is the smell of an old tobacco shop full of aged tobacco leaves.
Now, hit the button!
Flavor: A strong, sweetish (not sickly sweet) tobacco. It tastes like the smell of a freshly opened pack of Dunhill Full Flavors. You can tell that this is a top shelf flavor, it tastes expensive. Now, the taste is very strong, not merely a hint of the leaf. The aftertaste: A bold Applewood flavor, a hint of Cedar, everything that you love about smoked cheese or smoked meat (without the cheese or meat flavor, of course).
Throat Hit: This is in a class of its own! Liquids either are too smooth and give no hit, or tear at the back of your throat in a very chemical way. I love the throat hit just as much as the next guy, but I don't want to be in pain... The BWB Applewood gives you a "full" feeling. Like your throat is getting a gentle but firm kick and your lungs are full of smoke.
On a scale of one to ten (overall vaping experience):
Chinese liquid: 2-3
Most of the USA made juice I've tried: 3-6
Halo Freedom: 7 (too sweet)
Backwoods Brew Applewood Tobacco: 10
And Don is the kind of guy that you immediately want to have as your friend. Some people write LOL all the time, this guy really does LOL all the time, I love it!
The bottles are filled to the brim, so a 30ml bottle probably is closer to 35ml. Don is very accommodating and reasonable in his pricing, and does not try to make extra money with shipping costs.
Basically, I was ready to give up, and this liquid saved the vape for me!
I think that's all I really need to say...
Thank you Don.
