Hey all!

Would be nice to hear some short anecdotes of if you have been able to stop smoking analogues, or at least cut down if that was your goal!

Was it instantaneously that you stopped after starting vaping or perhaps a process, a new bit of kit that finally helped, maybe a flavour? How long to quit and how long have you been off! What makes you happy about your personal change? Cost? Health? The lifestyle maybe?

I'm sure it'd help out a fair few people hoping to achieve that same goal!

I was really sceptical about being able to stop smoking by vaping to be honest. First few days, I only had like 2 cigarettes, which was a huge achievement for me. Eventually, I didn't feel the need to smoke at all, which was an amazing feeling. But about a month in, a new kind of cigarettes came out (the Dunhill pictured below) and I was just intrigued so I decided to give it a go. It was blackcurrant ice flavour. It wasn't bad, but nor did it tingle anything in my brain to start smoking again. But I am seeing a lot more flavoured cigarettes these days, and I think it's their way of combating the rise of electronic cigs.

Seeing that picture turned my stomach instantly, I am so thankful to vaping, I was a 40 a day smoker for almost 30 years, tried the vape pens, rubbish, found ECF, bought a Nautilus Mini and that was first time I noticed a difference, I went from 40 a day to around 5 a day. I was then pointed in the direction of the Subtank Mini, started lung hitting and completely quit and have never looked back. The very sight of that picture makes me feel angry and sick to my stomach..

I smoked a pack a day for seven years. It was the advice and support from my mother that helped me make the switch to vaping. Her sister had been vaping for a while so, at one point, she knew more than I did. I thought she was referring to something like a cigalike, but she found me a nice eGo/clearo kit to start with. Its been smooth sailing ever since.

Something I learned very quickly was that it was okay to slip up and smoke a cig from time to time. Over time, I preferred the taste of my eliquid and stuck with that for my nicotine delivery. Finding a good liquid that you can regularly enjoy can be more important than the equipment that you're using.

I was a light smoker (1/2 pack a day). Did not really have to quit. What did it for me was both the cost savings and the flavor choices. I started with stick type 808 batteries, moved onto eGos, and finally to mods. I quit within a week of vaping and was mixing my own juice within a month.

I am with you on the anger and nausea over the picture.
I can't believe how much I hate cigs now.
I started smoking at 14 (1984) and smoked a pack to 2 packs a day until 2012.
Now analogs make me sick as a dog.
I am so happy I tried the ego and atomizer back in... 2009? Then completely quit cigs after finally getting an rda and then a kayfun.
My wife is happy.
My dr. Is happy.
I am vaping and happy.
I mean if relaxing after work with a hazelnut custard juice you made and steeped for 1.5 months don't make you smile. ...
Nothing will.

I am a recent vape convert...3 week neophyte I guess.
I smoked about 1/2 a pack a day and dipped a can every other day or so.
I still occasionally get a smoke from one of the guys at work on those super stressful days (maybe once a week), I find the Nicotine in my juice hits different then an analog.
But in those three weeks my biggest accomplishment is not having a single dip.
My wife couldn't be happier.

*update*
I never got excited to smoke cigs.
I smoked because I was addicted, I "had" to smoke.
Now, I "get" to build coils, I get to make juice, I get to try my juice after a good steep,
I run to the mailbox when a new vape toy comes, I LOVE talking to folks about vaping,
I'll sit and build coils while I watch a lame b horror movie, my wife smiles and listens patiently as I gush over the newest rda or mod.
I..... ######## love to vape.
I also love reading all the stories, questions, and genuine feeling of belonging this site provides.
So. Thanks.

I happened to see a program, maybe it was Tech Now or a program like that, that did a segment on electronic cigarettes, I paid attention and filed it away. Not more than a couple or so months later, I moved in to a living situation in which I could not smoke inside. There was no way that was going to work for me since I was a chain smoker. I decided to check the internet to see if electronic cigarettes were really a thing, and lo and behold, they were. I came across these forums and spent about a week reading up, there was so much to learn! I settled upon a Joyetech starter kit (that was the most recommended way to go for newbies at the time), with a little cig-sized battery. That was back almost in in the dark ages of vaping, in 2009. I made it work for me. As long as I had my nic, I was determined to make it work, and I did. Within a week of getting the kit, I was smoke free. I eventually moved up to eGo batteries and then to mods. So, it just gets better. How I managed with those little cig-size batteries, well, I'm just glad I did.

I did go through some withdrawals (only lasted a couple or weeks for me), as I expected since I'd read the chemical cocktail in cigarettes in itself was addictive, but as long as I had nicotine and the hand to mouth thing going, it was very manageable. Ritual is a big part of smoking, and I just had to develop a different one for vaping. I will always be extremely grateful to ECF and its members for the help, encouragement, enthusiasm, and education they provided me. It can be confusing and overwhelming, with information overload an ever present danger, but I took it all in bite sized chunks, started off simple (easier then as there were fewer options) and stayed with that until I felt secure enough with vaping to start expanding. I honestly don't believe I'll ever pick up another cigarette (though I still have dreams in which I find myself smoking).

It hasn't been a magical instant quit smoking for me since I've had a few analogues along the way since March, but it's still magical to me because after 41 years of chain smoking I didn't think I could ever cut down, much less quit. But it's working very well for me and I have some WTA juice on the way to me now which I hope will cut down my persistent cigarette cravings.
