Stop the obsessions

Wow!!!!! I am so glad to hear I am not the only one. I have known all my life to have a tendency toward OCD but this could get out of hand if not careful. I have got spending under control now but wish list is constantly growing. I find if I don't buy at the "I really need this" moment i seem to get over the urge quicker now.
I never post on these things but everyone is so helpful here it has helped a lot with stopping analogs and morphine. Thanks all

No worry, I did the same thing. I lurked around this forum for a few months before I joined. I was on some other ones too, this one is a fountain of information.

I have now accomplished three weeks without a analog except for a couple of hits three times to remind myself how horrible it tastes. I feel like I can breath easier and have more energy. I did go through so hard withdraw for the first couple of weeks but hard to tell how much was analog withdraw because I was also stopping use of morphine at the same time (perhaps a story for another time).

One the biggest problem I have is obsessions with this accessory and that bigger batt. I tend to have problems with this pertaining to other things at times but it is almost uncontrollable at times. I find myself looking at every model of e-cig from every retailer. I browse for hours looking at e-juice and liquid, reading recipes and reviews. I know this problem is complicated by the fact I am disabled an unable to do much because of back injury and nerve damage, but with increased energy from getting of analogs (not to mention narcotics) I can not get my mind off these things.

Just interested if this is a normal reaction to getting of analogs and if ppl experience this for long. I love feeling healthier but hate fighting myself from spending to bankruptcy.

WOW thats funny we all do that ! I am also a creture of habit and always have to do more and more ! I am also disabled. Got hurt on the job back, knee and ankle. Everything in my life gets a little obsessive like eating, smoking, and gambling. But as I can see this is the only thing that actually help me instead of hurt ! Keep vaping and where all here to help.

There ya go. You've got a handle on it.

I have a monthly vaping allowance and I keep spreadsheets with my wish lists broken down by month, items, cost, etc. I reconfigure that thing daily. LOL What's been interesting to watch is how, over time, things get moved from my "must have" sheet to my "want later" sheet and then sometimes gradually get deleted. Ecig technology is evolving so rapidly, an item that I've had to wait a few months to purchase is often outdated by some other shiny.

When I was a girl, I would lie on the floor for hours, wishing for everything in the Sears toy catalog. I guess I just never grew up.

Congratulations on your freedom from smoking and welcome to ECF!

I'm not as bad as you, but i too liek to be informed and i hit this site daily.

My advice to stop obsessing would be to simply shell out the cash on a top piece of eqpt that needs as little maintenance as possible.

through trial and error I now have my ego-t and a cpl flavors I like.

the battery laste days on end for a light vapor like me (evenings only during weekdays and then any time all weekend) so not much messing about with charging. The ego-t tanks hold 1.2ml so again for a light vaper like me I only refill every few days.

And then I've learned that as soon as taste changes slightly (about once a week) to blow them out, rinse them under hot water and then let them air dry over night. If not they will develop a slight burnt taste for whatever reason.

So all I have to do is refill carts every 2 days or so.

Charge batt every 3 days or so.

Clean my 2 pvs overnight once a week.

Done. No hassle, no faffing around.

oh boy... i feel where your coming from on this one! The last week I've been spending hours and hours and HOURS looking at everything PV related... I really want to get into the DIY but I have to STOP myself from ordering anything more. I already bought enough juice to last at LEAST two months and Im low on funds. Just gotta say no to me. NO Ruth NO!!!!

I think that this site is a big part of the quitting process. Anytime I start thinking about a cig I find myself coming here and distracting myself with "forum stuff"...I find it's a good reminder of why I started using a pv to begin with. Sometimes just banter in subforums helps to get your mind off of things....I find it really helps. :)

Thanks to this forum and all the people in it for helping me stay occupied in times of weakness. I'm honing in on the end of day 3 without any cigarettes and talked myself out of buying a new pack on day 1 when I stopped for gas.

Congrats on day 3, you're on your way. I reminded myself to at least take a few puffs on the e-cigarette before I picked up an analog, and that saved my skin numerous times. I never picked up an analog because the cravings were immediately satiated by the e-cig.

I've spent countless hours here, there are so many insightful and inspirational posts from ECF members. I have also spent waaay more on the e-cig than I have saved from not smoking analogs. I would spend every dime all over again just to keep feeling as good as I do today. Best of luck on your journey, you'll make it.

Dusty,
I started vaping a month ago and here I am right with you. I am spending counless hrs on here. Looking a mods price juice bla bla bla. I also am disabled Back sugery and nerve damage. No narcotics for me (in recovery). IMHO I think it is normal. We are always looking for something better or different. I will take one of everything please. lol What I did was only alow myself to spend what I would have spent on anologs. I am going to go down 10% a month until I reach the halfway point. So it will cost me half of what the anologs would have and I am still a happy vapor. Good Luck. and remember you can dream without spending. or better yet come up with a real great mod yourself..

Once you have your routine and maintenance down, you'll be better. It becomes so much simpler as there is nothin new you need to think about eqpt wise and you now how to keep your pv working optimumly.

Or perhaps you were the same with regards to the last forum you frequented a lot or last hobby or 'new thing?'

I used to post like mad in an esl forum (I teach esl in Korea) and now I visit here daily....

best way to avoid info overload is ask a ton of questions. thats what i did. just be specific in the questions and ask away
Good advice.
Also, take notes.
I know it sounds kinda stupid, but it helps. Take notes on mixes, how much you're vaping, what stuff tastes like, etc.
Also write down suppliers that you come across and like. This allows you to not need to go back and find stuff, and it also keeps you from forgetting as much.

This sounds sooo much like me. I use a 510 (only pv I have) and along with my PCC and a few cartos filled with my favorite juices, I'm good to go. I am perfectly happy with my 510, and have some juices I really like, and have discovered (after trying several cart mods) that cartos are my preference. I've quit smoking and don't even have the slightest desire to even *try* another analog.
I feel the same way for the most part. I'm using a Riva 510. Cartos are also my preference.
I actually bought a whole second riva starter as a backup. It's in the closet.
I know I will eventually find a VV unit that strikes my fancy but until then.... I'm more than content. :)

I just ordered the TW Tornado T. I know I gave in to temptation but tired of burnt cartos. It is the same as your Ego-T I believe. How do you like yours? I hope we don't have any leaking issues. I'm sure if Ego makes these they are top notch quality from what I have read.

My honest opinion of the EGO-T = meh.

I can't understand the reviews in the ego-t thread that are so positive. I bought back my atty on sat and got a brand new one under warranty. Same dry, whispy, airy vape as before. Makes me suspicious tbh that the positive reviews are in some way connected to ego suppliers. Reviews I've read or watched of egos in general aren't that positive outside of supplier reviews in my experience.

I will be looking to upgrade ina cpl of months when I can afford it. Will probably give the ego away.
