New store owner sees a future in electronic cigarettes

The way Russ Walker sees it, the day is coming when the government bans
the internet sale of electronic cigarettes, just as the state has done with
tobacco cigarettes.

When that happens, Walker said, storefront locations offering the
modern alternative to tobacco-based products will be in a good position to grow.

I agree with that but most of these store-fronts are also internet based businesses. They better be in a good location with a large population and decent following for them to survive. I do see however that a store-front and side-business of internet shipping (possibly through another front) would still happen.

My local vendor, Vapoligy, is growing like crazy. He just moved into a bigger location with 8 tables for hanging out and trying flavors and such. I asked him how the storefront sales compared to his internet sales. I don't remember his exact words but his point was that the storefront just blows away the internet orders.
At the grand opening party last week he even had a local talk radio host doing his show from the shop, giving free plugs the whole time as he and his engineer/producer vaped away. The place was packed. Jim's a really good guy. It's nice to see a local business owner succeeding.

Reminds me of a similar experience of a vendor friend in Georgia.
They out grew their location quickly and just move to a larger building.
They also have an area for vapers to hang out.

It appears that store fronts are really going to have a positive impact
on our movement ... because the public can just drop in and check out
things for themselves and hang out and talk.

Talk radio show live from the shop for the Grand Opening
WOW ... That's fantastic !!

This is a Very Good Point.

I wonder how many Walk in Shops could stay in business with Only Walk in Customers?

Wow, wish they would open up a place like that in SoCal...it would probably never happen and if it did the soccer mom's would definitely flock there like nuts that hang out in front of planned parenthood clinics. Woe is me!

Ron -

I think there is one on Laguna Beach. Or at least there was for awhile.

Try doing a Google ECF search if you are near Laguna Beach.

It would be cool to have a list of e-cig stores.
However, it would be impossible to keep it current.

One thing is for sure ... We should support those vendors
who take the risks and shop locally ... if they provide the
supplies we want.

Vendors with store fronts will do much to help educate
the public there is no harm ... If shops are all over the
place ... the assumption is the products are safe.

No one I know is wringing their hands worried that e-cigs
are not FDA approved. Actually, most would be concerned
if they were.

There is also Vape Revolution in Cerritos, grand opening was 24 June 2012.

Re Vapoligy, I've been an online customer of Jim's for some time and visit his vaping video show on Thursday nights. I've learned a lot about what and what not to buy from watching those shows. Part of Jim's success is his juice. He is now wholesaling his juice to a number of locations not owned by his company, it is very well regarded. I think the largest part of his success in the store is the way they teach new vapers and the time they spend with them. Everyone gets a really good start on their vaping journey there. Word of mouth advertising by his customers is priceless.

Since Ross has opened his store its nice to finally having a local storefront that I can go to :) He still also has his internet business. So many people that have an interest in trying vaping want to be able to see stuff in person before buying and its nice to now have that local place that I can refer them too besides coming here to ECF to learn more about vaping :)

Internet sales will be around for who knows how long ...
However, most of us if we are running low on supplies would choose
to go to a local store to stock-up ... if there was one locally.

It appears to me that we are just now seeing the emergence
of e-smoking shops ... and they are opening faster than we
can keep up with them.

Mainstream e-smokers want to shop locally and not have
order on-line. Especially, if the prices are competitive.
Actually, they wouldn't mind paying a reasonable premium
for the convenience.

Times are changing fast and even many of those here
loyal to on-line marketers would choose to shop locally
if given the availability.

When we smoked ... We went to the store for cigarettes
and related supplies. This is the future for e-smokers ...
Actually, its the present for many today.

E-Cig City is in Laguna Beach.

That's the Place.

A bit of a Drive for you DC2 but if your ever on a Road trip UP PCH or the 5 going North is suppose you could swing in and Check it Out.

I drove by it once when it First Opened and it looked like a Nice Shop.

Little too far for me, but Cerritos is doable, I may run down there on a weekend when my wife is off lunching with friends.

It's nice to know a Walk-In place though when your Last Carto or Atty goes Belly Up or you spill the Last of your e-Liquid on the Floor while wait for a package to arrive via the Post Office.
