are you like me and type with one finger ?

ALMOST - 3/4 Finger typist and horrible speller and even worse - really bad at sentence construction due to a form of "Dyslexia" . . . ;)

I couldn't agree more, Uncle, but you fgot the "go bag" with all the important documents, like insurance policies, wills, bills of sale, and so on.

DAM ! ! ! Actually - I had that on the list and forgot to put it in - THANKS . . . :D

AND - as for stories about "Storms" gone by, not really going to go there . . . Just remember, I may not be as "Old" ;) as "You" are "My" Friend, but I was born in North Jersey and lived there & in NYC most of "My" life too (only been here in Florida about 8 Years) . . . So, I DO remember all those Blizzards/Ice Storms/Nor'easter and even Hurricanes that came our way too (I know you remember the "Blizzard" that came at Easter one Year and the One that Closed NYC Metropolitian area and the Northest for DAYS both in the 70 & 80's ;)) . . . So those people - "in North Jersey and NYC/Staten Island, haven't got a clue about what real wind and heavy water can do" - should ! ! ! as far as I am concerned . . . YES - I'm being a View attachment 148037 here - but still I couldn't agree more with what you said . . . :D

To me, there was no excuse for not evacuating well in advance. There was more than enough notice about what was going to happen. Problem is, you can't cure stupid.

Or Being Prepared ! ! ! :D

Hi guys still no power :( but hopefully soon we will be back up and running... The problem here... was not the wind or the rain ....but the surge of the water.... Never ever has the hudson river surged up above the waterline.... it has never happed in the NJ edge or in NYC before...no one was expecting it and it flooded the major tunnels in and out of manhattan and all the local substations. It was feet and feet if water up to 13 feet in some places.... that has been the biggest issue... In Long island and the jersey shore along the beaches they are used to flooding but I do not think it has ever been to this degree. We are in recovery mode and things should be getting better soon. the gas shortage is due to the pipelines being breached by the surge and they lost thier power...also the NYC harbor was damaged and the tankers boats could not dock... those last 2 things I have been told have now been fixed so gas should become more available.

I thank you all for your well wishes... Please do not debate about polictics too much...in the end everyone wants to help people they just have different ideas on how it should be done :)

Stay positive and keep on vaping :p

Glad to "hear" You are OKAY :) . . . Really wish I could have stopped by to meet "You" in person (and get a picture of "You" too - boy would I get "Kudos" for getting and posting that one :) ) before coming back to Florida . . . But "You" know why I couldn't ;) So - NEXT TIME :D

Stay positive and keep on vaping :p

YOU TOO ! ! !

HI guys. Just got back online.
Sorry I haven't read up on this thread, but will shortly.

Just got power pack... gas lines are nasty here still, with a lot of gouging [I will NEVER go to SHELL EVER AGAIN]. South Jersey was "ho hum".

Anyway, for what its worth, I managed to have ZERO analogs. My little 65 & 78 managed to keep me going for 5 days without power. I have a bunch of rechargable AA's, and this little adaptor power brick. It can run off AC, DC, and has a compartment to charge using 2 AA's. I kept rotating AA's, and was able to find a place every couple of days to recharge all my AA's... I even gave away the rest of my carton yesterday.

Most importantly, family is safe, we have power back, and my prayers go out to everyone still without power. This too shall pass.

Good news, Steve. Glad to know your family is safe and that your power is back on. Life is rough without electricity. How incredible that you have kept from smoking. Wow!!

Sitting down, facing forward.
Glad you're still OK, Imagine. I hope you're somewhere where you're either warm or can get warm. It's a little nippy out there this morning!

Glad you made it through the storm, Steve. Making it without tobacco is great! South Jersey was kind of "ho hum" like yopu said, but there are still a lot of roads closed and folks without power.

Sorry. I only got to south Jersey on Friday night. Murphy's law: I left my house in the afternoon, by the time I got to south Jersey, my daughter texted me that our street had power again. She has friends on FB that were keeping track all over town. Anyway, I didn't mean to downplay the problems ppl are/were having. It's the lines for gasoline I meant, but when I re-read my post, I realize it may not have come out right. Even Central Jersey is still rationing gas.

No, not at all , Steve. The gas lines have "trickled down" to here as well, at least in the Bordentown and Hamilton areas. It seemed like as soon as Governor Christy said there was lots of gas south of I-195 the lines appeared instantly. As a "vet" of the 70's and the gas lines/rationing back then, I appreciate what'sgoing on right now. I have been very lucky, no trees down, a generator, power restored on Wednesday and gas right around the corner. You folks up north, especially along the coast and river have taken a really heavy blow.

Imagine-I'm confused. Are you in Ohio or the New York/New Jersey area? Your avatar says Ohio, and I always pictured you near the store in Ohio, but some of your responses in this thread leave me to believe you're in the New York area. I'm up near Cleveland, Ohio and some of my neighbors just got their power on today. Everone in the Cleveland area is supoosed to have their power back by tomorrow at midnight, a week after the storm hit!
