Stovetop problem

I made a .4 stovetop. It hits great, problem is, it tastes burnt after like 2 hits and the wick is still saturated.

is hard to tell whats going on without seeing it, ive never done a stove coil but just from what your saying it sounds like the cotton may be to compressed
do you stuff the cotton between the coil and posts with that build?

the less cotton you have the faster it will wick but if you have a build where the cotton starts going vertical and has to hold its own weight then it will prob sag so its a balancing act
