I still have urges, especially in the AM when having coffee, so I log on to the ECF, and that really helps. Reading about others helps reinforce my determination to stay off the smokes. One other thing that helps is that I always have a PV either in hand or close at hand, so I don't have to wait even an instant to vape.:vapor:

When I quit, I weaned off. i was down to 3 aday, then one. Then one day when i ran out of cigs, I was to lazy to run out and get some. It was far easier to just vape. So I guess, if you fall off the wagon, no biggie, just get back on.

The good thing about vaping is that is is easy to get back on the wagon. If I had went cold turkey, one cig and I would of been back to smoking in total

rounding third and heading home...
I may be a broken record but here goes anyway- IF you are having a really hard time staying away from analogs then get a small bottle of wta ejuice. it WILL help make the transition a little smoother and easier( it did for me and a lot of other people). of course, I love it and vape it pretty much all the time, but it can be a bridge to tamper down those cravings until you're over the hump and settled into a regular vaping routine. all I can say is try it- what have you got to lose? it either works or it doesn't and you're only out the cost of a small bottle.

I find that I get the occasional urge, when in situations I previously smoked in. Like working on the cars or drinking, for me. Also the routine, the drive to work and breaks at work.

If possible, break up the routine. Do something new that isn't associated with smoking. If you're having a bad time and think you might give in, try something new! Explore a local park, a new restaurant, or go see a movie. Or go treat yourself to something new to keep you occupied and distracted. Also keeping multiple tanks with different flavors loaded in helps so much. A flavor getting stagnant and making you crave a cigarette? Switch to another flavor to keep interested.

In the end, you're not alone, and we all have our ways of getting around it. If you DO have a cigarette, you're not a bad person and you haven't failed. It might take one for you to realize you hate them and that's that!

I know exactly what you mean. It's hard to kick the situational habit of just pulling out an analog. It's hard for me in social scenes where I'm not quite setup and have the competency to really vape when out at night. Maybe I'm just weird like that. But I've been removing myself from the situations until I know I'm not going to be pushed to possibly have a quick analog. Like when my buddies go outside the bar to smoke, I just stay inside and enjoy the cold beer instead for the few minutes they're out there.

The situational is big for me. During the day it's almost a non-issue. I teach preschool and generally don't have time for breaks. It's late at night, kids in bed, finally get to relax that sometimes gets me. Usually can vape through it but my brain still remembers that experience.

It's been nearly 3 months for me, and occassionally after a meal or something, I return to my desk and look for my pack of cigarettes... Then I brush it aside and grab my PV. But the idea still presents itself.

Don't worry. We've built up reflex actions over the years and it's going to take some time to re-train our brains.

I just shrug and say, "Oh, yeah..." :)

People my disagree with my method but I intentionally had my nicotine levels a little high in my juice (ok, a lot high). When I would get the cravings I would chain vape for a few minutes and then smoke a cigarette. Not only did it taste bad but because of all the instant nicotine, it made me feel like crap too.
Like punishing myself for wanting a cigarette I guess but it's worked.

I started vaping May 6th and smoked for the first week or so but less and less each day. Since then I have smoked a couple of times but only a half of a cig cuz they tasted soooo bad. I still get a craving sometimes and really want a cig but I know it will not be satisfactory like before because they do taste so bad. So I just pick up my pv and hit it like crazy for a few and I do usually get up and do something and it passes. I also have cigarettes left and even tho I usually DON'T want one I just can not get myself to throw them out yet?? That's just me and I can definitely understand the folks who have to throw them out. Glad to hear you are having a better day today :)

Don't give up! My transition to vaping was smooth because I had been weening myself off the cigs and trying to quit for over a year. We all have different experiences. Sorry to hear you are having a tough time. Reminds me of my first attempt at quitting. I tried the patch and was like, "Wow! It's easier to quit than I thought!" Two days later I wanted to eat my own head. One of the worst feelings ever. Hang in there and stay off the analogs! You can do it!
