Hi, I have been struggling with my device for a while. I started vaping a couple of years ago using an ego twist with a small carto tank. It worked great for a while but of course I wanted to upgrade. I bought an Atlantis tank and istick 30. I just couldn't love it, I didn't like the big airy draws. I sold it to a friend and bought a nautilus mini and istick 20......trying to find a happy medium. I really like the way it works but I have really bad mouth issues. The longer I use it(within hours) the more burned that my mouth gets. It is like I have burned my mouth with hot liquid, not in one spot but all over. I drink lots of water, use biotene, use liquids with no artificial ingredients and with a higher vg. I recently went back to my ego twist and bought a small aspire tank and my mouth is much better. After ALL of that being said I was wondering if anyone else had ever had a problem like this. I have 3 minis and was also wondering if I changed the kind of coil that I use would it help. I am using the coils that came with them. It just seems like the bigger device is what is causing my problem. Thanks so much for the help!

Sounds to me like your mouth is sensitive to the amount, or maybe temperature, of the vape. That said, crank down the wattage and raise your coil value.
Could also try the PG or VG primarily vape with and without flavoring and or nicotine. Might be a heat induced allergy thing. One of the best things about vaping is you can control the vape.
I might have had the same problem. I was just getting into vaping, used nautilus tank on 12w and some cheap liquid, about 1,50 euros for 10ml, few hits in my mouth used to start feeling a little numb like when you drink hot tea too quick, I thought that maybe 12w was too much for me but even on 7w I used to get the same feeling in my mouth. In my local vape shop cashier recommended me another more expensive liquid, I think 4euros for 10ml, I tried it and didn't have any problems since. Maybe your problem is cause not by bad liquid, but you could give it a shot.
You've already done what I was going to suggest. Take your mouth back to the ego where it was happy.
Another consideration may be your Istick 20W. They have a notorious reputation for 'running hot'. A lot of posts in the forums about them and their 'mean' voltage. I do own one myself but rarely vape it, bought it as an ohm reader when I first started rebuilding.
I myself started with a mod and have several now but I've found my way backward to the GOOD stuff. My mods sit on a shelf collecting dust while I vape away on my ego, Evod and spinners.

Maybe the BVCs just aren't for you.
They need some power to get going and then if you run them 'up there' near the top, they could be uncomfortable for some users.

I think the 20W was bad at step-down?? If you tried to vape it at lower wattages, it doesn't really do that. Mine was quite harsh at times. The 30W is fine tho and should be able to vape at the Twist ego settings fine- you're just going to have more battery time to use for the day.
Thanks so much for the advice! I am doing much better on the smaller tank and my ego. Ordered some AIV juice. Hoping the good juice will help. I def think the coils have something to do with my problem but I am so confused by the choices. I need a vaping for dummies book.... Thank goodness for the good people here!

I had the same problem as yours with the cool fire 1, my mouth was burning after a few vapes and I had sometimes liquid in my mouth as well, then I moved on to Kanger sub mini with coils 0.5ohm, I vape at 30/40 watts and this is just perfect, good flavour, good temperature ... I vape with 70-100% vg and 6mg and the hit is just perfect.
