Ultimately this is about intellectual honesty and how your mind works and processes stimuli. You are completely off cigarettes, nicotine etc. GREAT! Why did you quit? If the reasons for quitting are enough to "click that switch" in your mind, then those thoughts should provide sufficient reason to be finished with the whole thing. While this appears to be self-evident, slow the thought process down to a frame by frame speed and you may realize you have already done the work and are simply not thinking about this in a manner that reminds you of why you quit in the first place and OF COURSE, the fact that YOU HAVE ACTUALLY ALREADY QUIT!

After 3packs per day for 25 years, my issues were health related. Before I started vaping exclusively, I had a blood pressure monitor close by. I saw my BP and heart rate after waking up and watched it rise with cigarettes and coffee. This alone had me smoking only about 4 cigarettes per day. Then I was introduced to a "SUPER DUPER" hypnotist. Back to 2 1/2 - 3 packs almost immediately :) It was the 7th or 8th one I had gone to and I should have known better. But I wonder if I didn't set myself up. Keep reading......

I was speaking to a friend who smoked even more heavily than I. He has quit for health-related issues and he knows even after so many years that if he smokes just one, he will go back. Well, guess what he dreams of at night? He dreams he specifically has 1 cigarette but never goes back!! Sneaky huh?

So, this is all about how your brain works and not what we or even some overly - pretentious, probably non-smoking, nurse can tell you. If this was the case NOBODY would be smoking. Doctors, advocates, TV quit smoking campaigns are screaming everywhere yet so many people smoke.

So if can just trigger your mind to BANISH the entire thing, excellent! This is your preferred choice!
Secondly, if you feel you will smoke, then AND ONLY THEN go for an e-cigarette. This way actual smoking is banished forever and you have the e-cig for EMERGENCIES ONLY!

Hate to be repetitive but, just remember, you have quit for 2 whole months. Something prompted you to do it.
Find it, feed on it and crush the damn thing once and for all.

Best of luck and Happy New Year to you!

Also, complete honesty with yourself here is key.

What was it you enjoyed the most about smoking? It probably wasn't the lungs full of smoke and other toxic chemicals and you can get the same "high" from caffeine as you do nicotine.

Mayny people find that hand to mouth oral fixation is what they need the most. I tortured a ton of pens and pencils every time I tried to quit and then I came to the realization that I LOVE to smoke. After I processed that revelation for a while, I also did some other research about nicotine for my own personal journey with vaping. But you don't seem to "need" the nicotine.

My suggestion would be to get a basic electronic system, probably a KR808 or 510 and learn how to mix your own 0nic juice since you don't need the nic and it's far less expensive to make your own. It might help you kill the hand to mouth craving without delving back into the world of nicotine addiction.

Thanks EynaraWolf. How did that work out for you. Did you stay smoke-free? I mean, how did you resolve the nicotine need?

I was like you, I needed to quit and tried everything you could think of. Chantix made me sick and every side effect you could think of. Tried the patch and the gum. Even the hypnosis and all the other pills and methods I could try. Although each try has some success varying from a couple of weeks to a year, but every ty resulted in weight gain and sometimes way too much (diabetisis in the family). Then I decided to try ecigarettes. From the first day, I have been able to lay off the cigarettes (still have 5 cartons of them) without going back. I did have cravings at first with my 510 clone but now that I have purchased an ego mega, I no longer have the cravings! And know it will work. And no massive weight gain either. I would suggest instead of going back to cigarettes you try an eGo with the mega atty and carts but order it in either very low or no nicotine level and see if it works for you. Personally I started out with 35mg, and then steped it down to 24 mg and considering steping down to the 18 mg. Hopefully within the next 6 months to a year I will be down to 0 nicotine.

BTW: I was a 2.5 pack a day smoker for 40+ years before I switched to vaping.

I have been smoke free, but vaping between 6 and 18mg of nicotine depending on what's going on in a day. I have a friend with emphysema who resolves his need for nicotine with lozenges. I decided to switch to vaping because something had to give. My health was getting worse and I wanted to give up the smoke, but not the smoking, if that makes any sense at all. I was introduced to electronic cigarettes, and the rest is pretty much history. I found that ability to "smoke" without smoking. I was surviving with only 6mg, but I functioned better on 12mg. I have to increase to 18mg if I want to get any writing done. (I am an unpublished novel writer.) For me, I have never been worried about giving up nicotine and the more I research it, the more ok I am with being addicted to it.

BUT

If you have beat the need for nicotine, I would recommend NOT using any nicotine in any vaping you may decide to do. It's relatively easy to buy some PG or VG along with some flavoring and make something you like the taste of to help with the hand to mouth/inhalation cravings. I would also recommend looking at what flavors are safe to put into a vaping mix as not all flavors are safe.

It all really is about how you feel and making as informed of a decision as you can make. Vaping has been a godsend for me because I am finally able to give up the smoke in a habit that I love and need.

You've quit for two months and that is a wonderful thing!!

If you are 100% sure you will eventually put an analog cigarette into your mouth and puff on it again, then I highly recommend getting any model electronic cigarette that has a similar look and feel to a real cigarette and stay away from nicotine if you can.

I am also not going to lie to you and tell you that it's all in your mind. Well, in a way, it might be, but not how most people think. There has been research that suggests nicotine changes the brain of some smokers and they will always need nicotine to feel "normal."

I don't know much about your situation and only you can tell if it's a craving for the habit or a craving for nicotine. This is your health and your body. The most potent advice I can give you is to research, research, consult with a doctor you trust the most, research, research.... you get the idea.

Only you know yourself. Research nicotine and see what you find out about it and how it relates to you personally.

I wish you the best of luck.
