Thanks everyone. I guess the key is finding that right ejuice. I have many but can't stand most of them.

Sometimes the juice we think we'll like, is really what we can't stand. Think outside the box, go for something entirely different than what you thought you'd want. I didn't have a B & M close by when I quit, heck, the ones that are now here are at least 35-45 minutes away. If you don't have one nearby, order samples, and realize as your journey continues, your taste buds, and taste are going to change. What you start out with may possible be thrown to the side and never vaped again. Don't pigeon hole yourself to a specific taste.

Think of it as an adventure, not a burden.

I apologize ahead of time if I am posting this in the incorrect place. I need some advice from others who may have struggled with the same thing that I have. I am struggling to give up those last few cigarettes a day. It seems that I can't give up the morning one and the night one and sometimes when the workday gets stressed. Anyone have any advice for someone who really wants to get off those last few cigarettes??

Just say NO, I smoked for 29 years and kept a pack of cigs next to me and always said no, its been 3 months since and I cut down to 6mg of nic and cigs are a thing of the past. Remember you have the power not the cigs, by smoking in the morning you allowing yourself to fail,

I smoked for close to 50 years. I quit once for 5 years, but started back again. That was in the 70s. Two years ago I discovered vaping. After a short intro period (like 2 weeks), I stopped smoking entirely. I started with 16mg of nic and later upped that to 18.

Of course, your experience is strictly personal and only applies to you. I could tell you all of the things I did, but they may not work for you. There is only one sure-fire way to stop ... you can't smoke what you don't have. So get rid of the analogs altogether and rely purely on your vaping. With no analogs in the house, you have to resort to vaping ... anything short of that is the equivalent of going cold turkey.

Like so many others here have said, increase the amount of nic in your juice; upgrade your delivery system if you think you have to, and don't look back.

Determination is your friend when it comes to vaping, but it can just as easily be your enemy if you use it to rationalize smoking.

I had not heard that term "Ghost Habit." But it's great. That is exactly how I feel in this first week of not smoking and vaping. I don't really "crave" a cigarette enough to light one up, but....there is that little crazy feeling sometimes that something is not quite right.

I've caught myself sitting in front of the computer, looking at this board and the posts, with my ego in my hand, puffing and reading. Then I look down at the desk and think "Where did I leave my cigarette case?" I've even gotten out of my chair to look for it, and remembered - I don't do that anymore. It just happens in your mind. I immediately reset my thinking, and it goes away.

I just upped my nic level until I found that happy level where I was not craving a cigarette. It was not long after that that the morning and bedtime smokes started tasting bad. I woke up one morning and could not finish the morning smoke, I actually craved the peach/pear tobacco juice I had. Here it is some months later and I can not stand tobacco flavored juices but have a small army of favorite fun flavors.

35 years of smoking, but not any more.

Personally, I think the "key" to people being successful when they move from smoking to vaping comes down primarily to getting the right juice. You have to like the taste, and you have to have the right nic level. If your juice is a flavor you like with the nic level you need, you're almost all the way home. I'm a big fan of variable voltage devices (even the low end ones like the ego twists and vision spinners and such), but the juice is the key, IMO.

I was a 3 PPD smoker before I started vaping, and it took me several months to get off the cigs. One of the best pieces of advice I was given early on was "It's OK to smoke. Vape when you want, smoke when you want, and if you want to quit, it will happen. Smoking a cig isn't a failure. Don't count the ones you smoke - count the ones you *don't* smoke."

I started vaping at 24mg nicotine. It didn't take long before I was down to only a few cigs a day, almost all of which came right after meals, but I couldn't get rid of those last few. For several months, I was still smoking right after I'd eat, and no amount of vaping would help.

Then I bought some 30mg nic juice. The day I got that, I stopped smoking, and it was easy. I didn't even use the 30mg most of the time. Since 24 was working as my "all day", I just used the 30mg juice after meals or when I'd feel particularly stressed, and the 24 the rest of the time.

After six months or so of no cigs, I started to cut down on the nicotine a little at a time, and now I vape with no nic.

So if you're having issues with those last few cigs, I'd suggest trying some juice with a higher nic level. It worked for me.

And if you never, ever, get rid of those last few cigs, that's OK. Really, it is. Just by getting rid of *most* of your cigs, you've made a huge step forward. But I do know a few people who vape a lot, and smoke a few cigs a day. They are still far better off than they used to be. And who knows - maybe one day they'll quit smoking for good.

but yes, it is SO TRUE

thru the 60's & 70's I had long hair (like most)
when I went into the military, got the 'buzz-cut'
for the life of me I COULD NOT STOP putting my hair behind my ear
to bend over, to eat, to drink outta a water fountain etc.

same happens now, I wanna ...., I reach for my 'pack' to light up
and momentarily freak when there is none...

then as you say;
"It just happens in your mind. I immediately reset my thinking, and it goes away."
it is just the Ghost Memory Reflex... wonder how long it will last ?

Yep! We have to remember that for some of us, we had those same routines and habits of smoking and things related to smoking for 30 years or more. Smoking was a part of every life event, holiday, etc. when I first started vaping on a cig alike battery, even though I had vaped about a week solid and didn't smoke, I caught myself putting my Ecig to my mouth, flicking my lighter, and almost burnt the end of my Ecig with it but realized at the last second. Lol. Hey, I did that routine too many times to even count in my life so I wasn't thinking. Lol. It takes a little time for all those thoughts to completely disappear. And I definitely think finding good juice that you really enjoy is the biggest factor to being successful. Everyone thinks they need something that tastes like a cigarette but most soon learn they prefer fruits, or deserts, or something else. I recommend everyone new should try flavors from different categories and as someone said earlier, the flavors you may think you will love, you won't, and the flavors you didn't think you would like, you love. I love drinking coffee a lot but I can't stand coffee Vapes. Lol. Just an example.....

Back when I was a young teenager, in rural Tennessee, I was a part of the youth group in a Pentecostal church. One of the major things they emphasized was the fact that you could lose your salvation and at any moment die and go to hell. Therefore, you NEEDED to be constantly saved all the time with every single sin. That means praying the salvation prayer almost infinitely, daily. Every day could be your last, so make sure you were right with the Lord.

That kind of thinking almost drove me insane. Guilt is one thing, but, maN.

Don't fall prey to emotions, fear, or guilt. Be strong. Be yourself. Don't let anyone else other than you define yourself. If you smoke a real cig, don't beat yourself up. We'll love you no matter what. :)

I gave up the morning one first (waited until I got to work to have my first one of the day). Once I got to that point, I gave up the last one of the night.

That made it easier to give up the rest one by one...:)

Still have my own 'ghost habit' after 3 months - at least once a day I think 'OMG, where did I leave my cigarette burning? did I put it out?' It makes me laugh every time!
It took about this long too for any of my juices to taste good to me - healing taste buds, getting the hang of vaping, juices steeping, finally getting better gear, etc... I'm not sure what changed but it finally did.
All my juices tasted bad, but none tasted anywhere near as bad as the last couple of cigarettes I smoked during my brief 'transition' phase.

Ya gotta stop buying em and keep vaping!

yeah, after a coupla weeks I went home on a Friday after work, wiht NO tobacco products, and planned to not leave home for any (which is easy since it's 30miles RT to town from here).

By monday, I was vaping full time.

Knowing that I didn't have to have analogs took all the fear away once i did it. :)

I smoked for the first three months of vaping until I quit cigs entirely. It's different for everyone. WTA may help but it is probably not needed. There is a bit of will power, well it was for me.

I started and stayed at 24mg juice. I tend to chain vape and only over nic'd myself in the beginning. Sample size juice bottles as much as you can till you find a handful of juice you really like or even love. You also need the mindset of any cigs not smoked is a WIN! Good luck and you have a ton of people here always willing to help and give advice.

Oh my dear I have been there... It took me 1 1/2 years of vaping to finally give up the smokes for good. Like you, morning coffee, after dinner, and stressed times were the hardest. But what did it for me was uping my nicotine level. I started vaping at zero, went up to 6mg after three months of vaping, and stayed there for a year+, and then finally I went up to 12mgs and that did it for me. The first week at the higher level was still "psychologically" tempting, but by week 2 I was good, and have had no urge since then.

Now you may presently be higher than 12 mg, so I suggest going up slightly from whatever your present nic level is. And do not be afraid to re-evaluate your present set up as well. Everyone's journey is different, and mine was rather unique .. be easy, and patient with yourself, and don't feel like you MUST QUIT NOW. If you really want this to work, then it will. This is mostly psychological, and you need to allow yourself to believe that you can be satisfied through vaping.

The other day I left my vape in someones car and could get it for a day. I bought a pack of cigs and smoked 2. I didn't enjoying them that much, the whole time I was smoking them I was craving my vape. I swear (at least for me) if you stop the stinkies long enough, when you go back they just dont taste the same. I still have that pack, haven't touch the other cigs nor have wanted to.

You just have to commit. I was the same way for 3 days after I started vaping. I finished off a pack and said that was it. I haven't turned back and I don't plan to.

I have been in a much better mood lately and I have only gone 7 days. It's the first week that's the hardest when you quit, but if you just say I'm not buying anymore and continue to vape to fight past the urge you can do it. Plus right now it's like 6 degrees in MD, I have no plans on stepping outside for a cigarette haha.

The morning one and the driving smokes were the hardest to give up. My commute is 1.5 hours plus each way.

You've come this far to get something that can help you quit, don't stop.

It took me 8 months to give up the last couple of cigs. I have now been smoke free for 7 days. It will happen just don't force it. Beating myself up everyday was the worse thing I could have done. When I knew I could have one anytime I wanted I chose to vape. Was it hard? VERY... But it can be done in time and when you are fully ready.
I wish you all the best. :)

It only takes one person to start a revolution.
