I swear I was careful, that I cleaned the adapter in alcohol and let it dry between uses and that I checked for leakage and seepage and yet...I can't get this damn 801 adapter off the SB. I told Chad I was done with adapters for good so don't tell him!

Any suggestions?? I've soaked around the base of the atty with alcohol, tried firing it up to see if somehow heat would help, have donned rubber gloves to get a grip on it...still stuck.

I get mine off when its stuck by wrapping it with a paper towel or fabric and using a pair of pliers. The paper or fabric keep you from scratching it or scewing up the threads.

Okay, two things...
1. YAY, I'm not the only one using adapters
2. Gotta find pliers

Thanks!

I use an 801 adapter on my SB and my OMeGa. Sometimes it doesn't want to come off, I just unscrew the atty and turn the unit and the atty upside down separately. I always use the same adapter that I got from Rob and have never had a problem with the connection. It will come loose eventually.

Okay, so the deal is to let the SB hang out upside down for awhile? That I can do.

801 works so beautifully with the SB - perfect temperature, plumes...I'm using a 510 atty on the Omega right now just so both won't be in the same predicament at the same time but not enjoying it as much.

Thanks, Wolf!

Hubby and I both unscrew the atty at night. We turn it upside down on a paper towel. It keeps juice from running down the threads and leaking out. We also remove the adapter (if it hasn't come off with the atty). When it doesn't want to be removed, we just turn the top part of the SB upside down next to the atty. Yes, it is a bit of a balancing act with the adapter on, and you have a bit of a messy paper towel in the morning, but it beats having juice running down the SB and all over your hand. My husband will not use anything but the 801. Well that's not exactly true, I recently bought him some 801 LR atty's. He really likes them, but he blew one out in less than a day. I'm thinking he can stay with the standards. I will be cleaning all our old atty's this weekend. I wonder how many I will save?

That's when this happened - last night as I was getting ready for the nightly maintenance and the little joker just refused to budge. I have a LR 801 I don't love as much as the standard or HV...don't know what it is but we've been circling each other for days trying to figure out whose gonna win the stand-off. So far it has the upper hand but I'm hanging in there!

I used to do nails, when the tops got stuck on the polish bottles, I wrapped a rubber band around them, gave some grip and didn't have to worry about gauging it up with pliers..

Other trick to try is using some of that rubberized shelf liner, I have squares cut up all over the place, try using one around the battery/atty and the other around the connector, you could also drip a drop of liquid around it to give it a little less friction.....
MINDS OUTTA THE GUTTER PLEASE

Please let us know how you make out.....with the connector, not if you "make out' lol

Nope, still stuck on there. All the pliers do is...well, nothin'. They slide the towel around and it's awkward because I'm paranoid about a slip and a scratch. I'd rather live with this connector than a scratch or nick. Right now I have it sitting upside down like Wolf suggested.

I'll try Vchick's suggestion with the robber band if standing on the connector doesn't work eventually. Love the rubberized shelf liner idea - I used that to keep my middle kid from sliding out of his high chair. Gonna see if I can find some around. Thanks!

A little, did you ever get it off? When using plyers try pulling upward when you are unscrewing :)

No man, it's still on there! I even opened up the airflow screw thingy to see if that'd help. I just tried pulling up and nothin'. Does this mean it is officially an 801 device now? Unbelievable.

Sounds like you got it on there really good! Try putting the top of the SB in a vice, put a tiny bit of oil around the bottom of the adapter, give the side of the adapter a couple of good raps with the base of a butter knife, put the atty on, wrap the adapter and atty with one of those rubber things used to remove jar lids, and take a pair of pliers to the bugger. Good luck!!!
