Study Questions Vaping’s Role as Gateway to Teen Smoking
Using e-cigarettes doesn’t raise the likelihood a teenager would smoke, according to a study by U.S. researchers. Smoking can be entirely attributable to other factors affecting adolescents’ inclination toward cigarettes, such as parental education, peer smoking, anxiety and other substance abuse.

To conclude otherwise is somewhere between ignorance and purism.

I came so close to putting up laughing emoticon, instead of agree. I think of it as suggesting drinking soda is gateway to alcohol drinking. It's definitely theoretically plausible one would precede the other, but also way more likely that the flavor/taste is significantly better with the first. Trying the other would have so very little to do with flavor/taste.
