I agree with them having to pay rent - and therefore charging a bit more. But there vendors I know fo one - well known one - in my surrounding area - that pretty much works outta their house - and their prices are way high.......FT is where I get most my hardware - juice is another thing -money well spent with HHV, JC, GF and if i can lay my hands on some BOBA - maybe they will be added to the list....lol

Earlier post to an FT VAMO, here's another - top notch VAMO kit, with brand name charger and good batteries.
These are the longer 18650's, and Stainless Steel, which most people recommend for a VAMO.
Just in case you return it and want to go shopping...

Are you trying to make a profit by using a sharesale link or did ECF put that part in?

I'm thinking about doing that. It sucks that I may be about to get on the bad side of my local B/M.

At those prices I'd WANT to be on their bad side. I hardly ever buy anything locally just because of that. I figure if the local B&Ms want local buyers they need to quit marking their stuff up 200% or more!!

Don't feel bad I have done it a couple of times, besides it helps businesses in your local economy.....

You don't get more local than your own wallet. Sure if something is the same price then buying locally is better but as soon as you are paying extra then you are just giving your cash away.

True, but there's a premium that some people are willing to pay to actually shop in a store. Some people just like to pick the item up, ask questions about it and perhaps even try it. Good customer service is worth a little extra.

Then, there are shipping costs and time to consider. FastTech, which is now delivering products in 7-10 days, offers free shipping. However, other vendors aren't able to do that.

Then, there's the satisfaction of taking it home and using it right away, rather than waiting for Vapemail to come.

Is all that worth a 300% markup? Not to me.

I can get genuine Kanger, Joye and Innokin equipment at my B&M for what amounts to a price equal to online cost plus shipping from a stateside vendor, plus a premium of anywhere from $2 to $7, depending on what I'm buying. That, I'm Ok with.

Well, no returns accepted, only exchanges. So I am now the owner of $150 worth of tanks, heads, juice, a case, a charger and a passthru/battery. I don't usually buy their juice, it's not the best and it's $1 per ml. Oh well. So no Vamo for me, not for a while at least.

Never again.

At least you aren't buying stinkies with it!

One thing I've learned working in customer service over the years is that a happy customer may tell 2 or 3 people.
On the other hand, an unhappy customer will tell 10-15 people.

6 months from now when you pass by the shop and its empty you'll know the guy had no one to blame but himself.

But if they are robbing people they aren't worth keeping open. Theres a difference between reasonable markup and price gouging.
Totally agree! I admit it was MY fault for not doing the research AHEAD of time, but if it makes the OP feel any better, I got *bleeped* without a kiss as well because I was new and one of the local B&M shops took advantage. While I agree with earlier posts that say they have to charge 50%-100% more due to costs of an actual store vs. FT, I do NOT think they should be gouging. I got it even worse than the OP. I looked up almost exactly what I bought (a very basic vv twist setup) on FT, it TOTALED $35.00. So I wouldn't have minded 50% - 100% more (which is $52.50 - $70.00). Not knowing what they were worth and being new buying my first setup, they charged me $120.00! That is close to a THREE HUNDRED AND FORTY TWO (342) percent MARKUP. Ridiculous. They will never see another PENNY from me again. If anyone here on ECF is in Colorado is considering going to a B&M in the metro Denver area (or thinking about ordering online from a Colorado based website) and want to know the name of the B&M and/or web address, let me know, I will gladly pm you. This is what I got for my $120.00:

$1/ml - OMG -JC dont charge that much............OMG OMG OMG - if I were you - i would never ever enter that store again - same thing I did with the local vendor I mentioned in an earlier post......only in a life/death situation did I order from them - needed a part that they were the only ones I could find had in stock - FT might have a new customer......lol

While that is a very high markup, it may be worth noting that you are technically also receiving in-person tech support and a 1-year warranty from them.

I actually just edited the post with the correct dollar figures and math. With the correct math, it was a 342% markup.

It's a learning experience ;)

It seems like lots of people just don't understand the cost of running a business. Fasttech is essentially a distributor, so your local shop *has to* mark up that price by 50-100%, to be able to stay in business. What you get in exchange, is the convenience of local service and availability.

But if they are robbing people they aren't worth keeping open. Theres a difference between reasonable markup and price gouging.

I agree Ozark, but this shop is in a prime area in my town. The business district. Their space rent alone has got to be huge so I'm thinking they have to mark up their products vastly in order to make the bills each month. The problem is that I don't want to have to support them to that degree. It's a catch-22.

I agree that most people have no idea what it costs to run a business. It's not just the cost of the materials, you have to pay employees, taxes, rent, power, etc. etc. along with that thing called 'profit' (at least theoretically).

I'll go against the tide here and say the OP should keep the item. The store was there, open, and had available an item he needed to get him through a tight spot (he wanted another battery because his were charging). He's used the items and they work as they are supposed to. Why should the store get stuck with used equipment because the OP didn't do his research first?

It would be different if the items were defective or if the store told him the item was an 'X' when it was really a 'Y' but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The picture doesn't look any prettier heh

I agree that's too high of a price to charge for that, even if it is technically added value. Sometimes I wonder what these shops are thinking, I don't think I could push that pricing with a straight face.

True true about the stinkies! I am curious to see how long this shop lasts. They just opened in May, so we'll see.
