I'm guilty myself, I catch myself all the time. I want to try more flavors, more vendors, buy bigger bottles for discounts, more bottles at a time to save on shipping, etc. etc. The only way to justify it is to work through some of my stash on hand.
I hang out here on the forum, mostly in this e-liquid section, and then peruse the e-juice vendor sites, and back and forth and back and forth. All the while the pressure is building and building to empty a few bottles so I can order some more. So I huff and I puff and make mountains of plumes, only once in a while slowing down to savor flavor.
Are you a sub-conscious power vaper too?

I think there's another underlying psychological need going on. It sort of like hoarding, the need to have things always at hand. I power vape and that's one thing. I also order about $200 of vaping stuff a month. Recently that was because I just started vaping in September of last year. I also had to set up for DIY e-liquid. But, now that I'm all set, I'm still spending a lot of money on my "hobby." I have always been like that and I didn't have a "needy" childhood or anything like that. I just gotta have the latest BCC or MOD. The power-vaping comes from testing new liquids. The other is just gluttony I guess.

Yea, I went alittle crazy when I started...
Vaped like a smokestack...
Ordered kits, mods- more kits, more mods...
Batteries, and batteries...
Tanks, clearos, RBAs...
Backups, and more backups...

Then...
eJuice...flavors...more...
eJuice...flavors...more...
eJuice...flavors...more...

Then...
DIY, PG and VG...
Flavorings...
and-
DIY, PG and VG...
more Flavorings...

Now- I have enough 'stock' to supply myself for two years...maybe more-
-or...I could open a store !

so, now I am just happly vaping away....
...but my birthday is coming up....

I've just transferred my hoarding obsession from makeup and bath products to ecig supplies. A few years ago, I was on makeup forums and had to buy all the latest makeup. I'm currently using up makeup I bought back then and buying very little new. I haven't been on a makeup forum in months. I added up my credit card purchases on ecig supplies last month and it was over $200.00. Oops! It is fun though. There's so many flavors to try and they keep improving the batteries and juice-delivery systems. I'm hopeless....

I think we all go through the phase of buying as many different flavors and quantifying our collections. It's a costly endeavor but in the long run, it allows us to find out what we like and what we really like. For a time, I had a collection of over forty different 30ml flavors from several vendors. All of them were good and perfectly vapeable. After a few months, I realized that while I liked all the flavors I had accumulated, I was only regularly vaping 6 or 7 of them at most. Lately, I started selling off much of my stock and only focus on the juice I can wholeheartedly call "all-day-vapeworthy". My juice purchases have slowed down and my collection has thinned out. All the better. Too many choices don't necessarily mean a great vape experience.

Here's an analogy:
Watching the tele, you have 500 channels to choose from, but probably only settle on a few regularly. And chances are that even with 500 channels to choose from, you prefer watching things on Netflix because the choices are filtered down to your liking rather than scattered about.

I find the same thing happening with my vaping hobby. Too many juices, mods, and devices makes for a headache and detracts from the relaxing potential vaping gives us. After some time, I believe we naturally find equilibrium, tossing the unnecessary stuff and focusing on the few valued things which give us the greatest pleasure.

Have been caught up in the frenzy too. Now, though, I'm seriously weighing each purchase on a 'need' basis (mostly thanks to the family financial officer -- my better-half) and stopping 'most' of it there. I am, however, seriously weighing whether or not to get into DIY Juicing or not. Can see a lot of pluses, but a big financial downside too...

With DIY, once you get a little knowledge and experience under your belt, you can make juices yourself. They can be just as good or better than what your paying a vendor .50 - 1.25 per ml. You'll save a lot of money on juice and if you stock up on nicotine liquid you won't have to worry about the Government telling you what you can and cannot buy. There are a lot of recipes right here on the DIY section that recreate the best boutique juices.
