Yes, the answer would be yes i have been vaping for two weeks now using a kanger Aero tank Mega on a mvp3 itaste with a 1.8 ohm coil, i have not smoked a cigarette since first using this apparatus. I was smoking 30 cigs a day for 30 years, so am extremely pleased with this result. The reason im trying different coils is purely out of curiosity, hence my question relating to the. .08 ohm coil. I simply am trying to hone my vaping experience, so will be trying this sub ohm coil as soon as it arrives, which should be a matter of hours. Thanx any info regarding different coils and settings would be greatly appreciated.

That's your 2nd post stating resistance of .08 ohms. If it is that low then I don't think your mod will fire with it and I wouldn't recommend it to be used in ANY mod...mech or regulated. If it is actually .8ohm then you should be OK.

Welcome Bits :)

Ohm's Law.... Voltage = Current * Resistance
Watt's Law.... Wattage = Voltage^2 / Resistance.

The MVP3.0 goes to 30W. On regulated ("computer"-controlled) mods, you typically set either the output voltage or the output wattage, and based on the ohms of the coil, the rest "figures itself out".

Math examples: If you're using a 0.8ohm coil, and you set the MVP for 11W, the device is going to apply just a shade over 2.9V across the coil. Flipping back to the first equation, this means that you're going draw about 3.7A from the battery.

Lower watts (or volts) settings will yield a cooler vape (as long as there's at least enough to fire the coil.) Sometimes using too low of a wattage or voltage will not vaporize the juice, and you may get flooding or gurgling. Too high of watts or volts, and you have the potential of vaporizing juice too fast, and you could damage the wick (which gives you this nasty sensation called a "dry hit") Your goal is to find the spot that works best for YOU. Don't give a rip about how anybody else has their device set - everyone likes something a bit different. Plus, some juices may tend to burn more quickly on the exact same settings, so you have to go with what you're using.

Make sure you "prime" the coil (i.e. let the juice saturate the wick BEFORE you hit it with any significant amount of power.) If I can see the wick tails, I sometimes put a drop or two of juice on them before I install and fill the tank. Then, I let it sit for a few minutes. I might even take a couple of pulls WITHOUT pressing the fire button. Then, starting with a moderately low power, take a couple of fired hits. Then start nudging the power up until I maybe just start to taste a bit of burning. Then BACK OFF ;) That's YOUR "sweet spot" and where you should vape that tank of juice.

Congrats on getting off the cigarettes..

Cheers!

Thank you, and apologies it is indeed .8 ohms so sorry to confuse the issue.
I appreciate the detail of your explanation regarding could resistance etc. Forgive me for my ignorance but in layman's terms exactly what is achieved other than power drawn from battery, by changing coils example i will be trying a .8 ohm to a 1.5 ohm and am currently using a 1.8 ohm. Please forgive me iff you feel you have already explained this, as i just don't get it.

You're o.k. Bits (if I may call you that :) )

If you have your device set at 11W and you're using a 0.8 ohm coil, it's going to be a warmer vape compared to using a 1.5 ohm coil at the same setting. Underlying reason is because lower resistance (0.8) will allow more current to pass through, therefore heating faster/warmer than the lesser current being drawn by the 1.5 ohm coil.

Does that help?

ETA: I'm rethinking warmer v. cooler..... I may not have explained that quite right.... Let me ponder and I'll clarify momentarily

O.k. I'm back.... http://www.discountvapers.com/what-ohms-should-i-choose/
Nice little dissertation on low ohms v. high ohms.

Now, my :2c:. I run a lot of 1.8-ish ohm coils in my Protank 2 tanks, and I rarely go over 9.5-10W with those. I find they burn very quickly. When I'm running a 1.0ohm (or lower) coil, it's very easy to go well over 10W without burning, but I'm using thicker wire and a lot more airflow compared to my PT2 heads. There's a bunch more physics involved (and I don't completely understand it) in various wire gauges and whatnots. I just have been learning what *I* like and how to put it in place.

So, long (sorry) ramblings coming to a close, just try different stuff and see what *you* like. That's what the right answer is....

Reading your reply your on it more then you think.

With a high powered mod the only benefit worth using is bigger coils for more vapor.

Many times the bigger coils use thicker wire,

thicker wire has less resistance

Many people don't understand it is the extra surface area of the bigger coil, Not the low resistance, that makes more vapor.

They use bigger wire, dropping resistance in the process and instantly relate the 2

With a powerful mod you can use any coils you like, and adjust the power accordingly.

but I'm using thicker wire and a lot more airflow compared to my PT2 heads. There's a bunch more physics involved (and I don't completely understand it)

Its actually pretty simple, by using thicker wire you have more metal in the coil and more surface area of the wick being heated causing more vapor

OK Thrasher and Dinger, thank you for your explanations.
Well i got my parcel of goodies and have replaced the 1.8 ohm coil with the new 0.8 ohm coil and wow what a difference it makes indeed. Here is the breakdown for your information.
Im using the itaste mvp3 which maxes out to 30watts.
@ 3.5 volts it =12.3 watts
@ 4.0 volts it=16 watts
@ 4.5 volts it= 20.3 watts
@ 5.0 volts it= 25 watts
@ 5.5 volts it = 30 watts maximum and burns the crap out of juice.
For me personally 3.5 volts is just right, releasing a tasty and satisfying Vape. Well im very happy with this and will probably stick with this 0.8 ohm coil.I don't think i can mention the juice im using, but its bloody good and very smooth and tasty. Thanks for the info guys.

Thank you Salemgold, how very kind of you, could you recommend any particular threads? Im an Australian and i would really like to reach more Aussies as Vaping in Australia for the main has been shunned, due to our wonderful Government who wont allow nicotine juices to be sold. Citing a lack of research and possible dangers! Yes its a joke isnt it.Oh by the way they prefer us to smoke cigarettes @$1 yes one dollar a cigarette, 75% of which would be TAX!!
