I just ordered Reo Grand springs to go in my Woodvils, I understand I'll have to drill a hole for the switch terminal to fit through. The new springs for the Woodvils are not listed on the site yet, I'm guessing Rob has been too busy to drill them and list them. It should improve the Woodvil performance but not as much as on the metal Reo's, because the metal ones get the upgraded firing pin as well. The new spring will have less voltage drop than the original spring, so hopefully we will see a little bit more voltage at the coil for a given battery voltage.

I replaced a 18490 Woodvil spring with one of the metal upgrade springs.
Took all of a couple minutes. Didn't even have to drill another hole for the on/off tab of the switch. Just used the existing screw hole and angled the spring a little. Went from a .43vd to .23vd.
The spring is a little more compressed if you use a 18500 vs. a 18490 battery but still plenty of room to drop in case of a short

The wood mod springs have been upgraded . I had a chance to make some of them up this morning

Thanks Rob! The wood mod Springs need to be soldered on, right? I may just send one of them in to you in a few weeks that I want stripped of poly and have you change out the spring and sprinkle more porcupine dust on it. :)

My 18490 jatoba will need a visit to the spa for one of these springs. I had a small incident a couple days ago and now my baby is sitting here making me sad. the spring did not drop but is soft now and from the area of the switch i got some melted plastic smell. not sure if it was the switch or a wire but i think its best to have rob check it out. Will be a couple weeks before it goes though since there's no money for spa treatment atm :(
