Hi all,

I have been using a mech mod for the past 6 months, building my coils around .3 ohm, or around 60 watts on a fully charged battery. I am looking to move to a box mod for a number of reasons, but I had a concern before I make the move. I noticed some of the mods have limits as to how low the resistance can be on the coils. Is there a noticeable difference vaping, say, a 1 ohm coil at 60 watts vs a .3 ohm coil at 60, 70, 80 watts? I have become very accustomed to my current setup, I just want to make sure that the move to regulated wont compromise the experience I am accustomed to. Looking forward to your input!

on paper the sigelei 100w box mod goes down to .2ohms. the chinese chip variants ie. yihi chips are rated down to .5ohms.

i would technically try to stay closer to ~1ohm as there is no real noticeable difference in vape unless it affects your coil builds that much (ex. more wraps = more surface area).

if you are coming straight from battery tubes to a regulated device you will notice a more consistent vape through the course as opposed to the "fresh batt" then low volt strain that you kind of get used to after a while.

Thanks for the feedback. So in regards to say warmth and cloud production, would you say 60 watts on mech = 60 watts on regulated, regardless of resistance?

To a point, yes. Some of it depends on the device you're gonna be using. The devices have a max output ceiling for the voltage, so in order to reach the max wattage output you may have to reduce the resistance (ohms) so you stay under the voltage ceiling. This is where knowing ohms law comes in handy. :)
