subox mini

so i recently bought the kanger subox mini kit, and im enjoying it so far. the only problem i have with it is that i cant get the lock screw from the rba section to loosen. i was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and how you loosened it if you did. please help!

Yeah it was pretty rude how tight that thing was screwed on.

My only advice is not to use the provided teeny-tiny screwdriver and use something much more substantial.

Potentially try running it under cold water, as that will cause the metal to contract a tiny bit.

If the above doesnt work, clean it out and put in some penetrating oil for 30 minutes of soak time. With a good tool it should loosen. Good luck!

Just make sure you clean that sucker real good before you use it if you soak it in penetrating oil.

If all else fails, put it the freezer for 15 minutes, and the screw should come out with no issues.

I tried this, still stuck on there! I don't know how they got it on so tight.

Let it sit in ice water, and see if that works. That will cool it quicker. You might need a bigger handle screw driver for more torque or use a pair of vice grips on the screw driver even to increase the torque.

Get a decently wide rubber band and a decent screwdriver that will fit, place the rubber band over the screw covering it completely and then try unscrewing(careful not to strip), I do this with other things all the time and it usually is always the solution.

I'm afraid to try anymore. The head is almost stripped now.

I wouldn't cool it, I would heat it. Expansion works better for loosening things in my opinion. Run it under hot water for a bit.
Failing that WD40, but you will have to wash the hell out of it after.

I have found that the light touch is the one that gets it off. The threads are very fine. If they are really stuck I hold the tube on my left hand and gently grab the cap with a pair of pliers then lightly rock the cap left and right. It just seems to miraculously come loose.
