Thought I would post this just in case it helps some poor soul (like myself) who thinks they are losing their mind and just can't get it right.. or bought a piece of crap that doesn't work. I started building my coils about 2 months ago and have had nothing but trouble since. I have many tanks but prefer the warmth and flavor of the subtank mini (now I have 7) I also like the fact that they include an Rba with them. starting with ni200 wire I was having problems. build all 7 coils on sat for my fun time (and learning time) and then one by one juice one and puff a couple times then it starts hitting temp protection every puff. Figuring it was the finicky wire I switched to Ti and stainless a couple weeks ago. Last night i buit 3 coils and all three did the same thing. Today I was just in the mood to figure this out since nobody in my local shops could see anything wrong with my coils. got in from work and started taking them apart to see what I could see. first thing I checked was the very bottom of the deck (the part that makes contact with the bottom section of the tank pin) it WAS LOOSE! tightened it and tried it and it worked. a little while later it did it again. took it off ..loose AGAIN! put it back on but this time didn't tighten it too snug on my mod and it hasn't messed up again:) I think when screwing the tank on the mod the pin on the tank turns and loosens the deck pin on the rba. checked the others I built and then tossed back on the desk after they failed...ALL LOOSE! ps-this happened no matter what mod I put them on so its the tank not any of the 5 mods I own. hope this helps someone out there!

Kanger normally doesn't tighten that bottom pin tight enough from the factory IMHO. I have two of the original Subtanks and I had to replace the old insulators with the new PEEK insulators. PBusardo has a video on how to do this. And that bottom pin just unscrews from the top deck. And you have to remove that pin to get to the insulators. Then I learned how loose that pin is from the factory. But once you snugged it up tight, they stay that way in my experience.

yeah, despite the frustrations I add another stm every other weekend! I too prefer the rba over the stock coils and they spit much less. still having the occasional firing issues but not nearly as much. I have tried experimenting with all the other popular tanks and, for my taste, stm just gives better flavor. next would be my "old dependable" aspire triton. Coils last forever and very consistent but even after months of use still has a bit of a metallic taste.

Interesting. I have 3 Sub Mini's using the RBA head. Re-wick after 4 tanks and go again. Never had one problem. Oh...and the 'next gen' Kanger Sub is coming out. 75W with temp control and new tank function. (Vape Royalty) I'm on the mailing list when it arrives.
I'm done "mod shopping" for a while.. updated version of the tanks... I'll try that! I ordered the Lavabox DNA200 and it sits in my bag while I rotate my 3 vtc mini's:) Joyetch has been pretty good about releasing firmware updates and I just prefer the smaller size.
