I have the original subtank mini (the silver, not black or white version). I recently purchased the new rba plus with the juice holes on the side. I built a 5 wrap twisted 28g coil on a 3.0 cm screw driver. Came out to .7 ohms. My issue is the wicking. I've rewicked a few different ways and I'm having the same issue: the draw seems beyond stiff. Even when I use less cotton than most recommend, it seems like the draw is even tighter than the original rba base. On top of this, the vape is terrible at even 20w. Tighter than I know it should be, extremely hot, and very little flavor and vapor. Any suggestions on how to wick this thing?

Ive tried the pancake method, and the method where you put the sleeve on top of the base, and cut the cotton parallel to that line, and place the cotton inside covering the juice holes. I need a better method!!

as far as the wicking, I kinda cheated.

I found the screwdriver I used to use for coil wraping was about the same size as the wick holes, so I'd wrap me a coil, then just feed the wick through the holes, coil and snip almost right up to the chimney. juice it up, then pop it in with 0 leaks.

As far as the tight drap, make sure the coil isnt too close to the air hole. I tend to put the coil ABOVE the posts, not nest the coil inbetween the posts (unelss I'm going for something more like a kayfun)

my 2 cents, hope it helps!

Should I place them even higher than this?

I follow the method where you cut the wick to the length right at the inside edge of the red washer (when looking down at the un-sleeved coil screwed into the airflow base.) In my experience putting the sleeve on and cutting the wick by THAT length leaves you with too much cotton that can stifle the draw. Cutting the wick at the inside of the red washer is a couple millimeters shorter, and the perfect length to reach the juices holes enough to prevent leaking, but still let the wicking happen efficiently.

I put a .7 Ohm clapton on the rba deck and placed slightly above the posts (sorry the pic is crappy):

I created the clapton using 28g Nichrome as the core and 34 Kanthal A1 around it. Here is a leftover leg end:

5/4 wraps with a 3mm ID and wicked with JOC, just covering the juice holes. After some priming, the wick has begun to saturate nicely between vapes. Only issue so far is an initial spit back. I assume its the juice sitting in between the wires on the coil. For a .7 Ohm coil this thing produces nice clouds and great flavor!
