Last night I rolled a new coil (still doing this for the practice) and was really made up. 2.3 ohms, worked out a couple of hot spots, and I all was well until a couple of hours ago when i suddenly got a burnt taste.

I was vaping at 8 watts to avoid this lol.

Anyway I checked my coil and the bot top 2 draps had come loose.my question; I thought hit spots gave a metallic taste. Could i have been in thé process of developing a hit spot and caught it in time??

I've seen two types of hot spots develop in my relatively limited experience with these:

1) Shorts against the metal of the wick, usually the "top coil hot spot". I get a very distinct metallic taste when this happens and don't know why.

2) coils too loose around the wick and just "floating" there getting hot. I think these develop because a) not enough vaporization to cool them down, and b) no contact with the wick, which acts as a heat sink. These hot spots DO taste different to me too, more of a burnt flavor like you described.

Hope this helps...

It was a taste similaire to the juice getting over cooked.

I made a new coil ( tighter to the wick) and so far OK.

Perhaps I caught an early sign.
