Bad vaping day yesterday. I've been relying on my two eGo batteries for months, and both seem to have died yesterday, pretty much simultaneously, yet in different ways.

I was having a run of lousy atty performance throughout the day and switching between three or four older ones (all LR) that I'd half-... cleaned and had in my kit bag (sometimes I just don't feel like breaking in a new one and getting past that new-atty yuckiness). So I'm guessing one of those attys was shorted out or something. The result was one battery that did the usual bye-bye blink, but then showed green in the charger (510 multi-charger w/ eGo adapter) and wouldn't re-charge.. The other battery is still blinking insidiously after 15 hours, and not working. What's up with that?

And of course my collection of 510 batteries have gotten really ratty, mostly missing their LED covers, and I'm not sure which are and aren't any good...

Anyway, until my new batteries order shows up, I want to use my Joye pass-through (w/ the blue 360 mAh battery) in the car, which I've never done. Will my standard 12V to USB adapter (output DC5.0V 1000mA +/- 5%) keep that battery charged with mostly non-stop vaping?

I used to clean the connections on my batteries, atomizers and the charger every day. However, recently I have not been that focused on the maintenance thing.

I started noticing what I thought was batteries dying...Did a thorough cleaning of the batteries, atomizers, and the charger using denatured alcohol.

WALLA...A Miracle! They all came back to life!

Let us know the results after you do the cleaning thing.

There's been a problem with some of the eGo USB wall charger units. Mine stays green and doesn't charge. It's an eGo charger rated at 500 mA and is being replaced by LF with a 1250 mA one.

Try plugging the USB charger into your computer or a different USB wall unit. That worked for me so mine would charge while waiting for the replacement charger.

Yah and as a warning not to use LR on e-go it's a no no. I know it's not funny, sorry.

Seriously, the mosfet switch in the e-go's can't handle the extra drain from the LR atties and if you were working them extra hard you probably fried the switch. It sounds like one switch died in the open position and one switch died in the closed position. The batteries inside are fine, you can just about bet on it, but without the switch to make them work they are useless. If you wan't to use LR atties or Cartos you have to go with a mod that has a better switch.

hey paul, I've had two ego bats die on me within the first two weeks (using reg-resistance atty's). I had to use that cheapo 360mah 10440p usb pasthrough for about two weeks, totally trashed the cord because I was using it while not plugged in and had it hanging out of my pocket. I know the cord broke inside and rendered it useless so I can't say how the battery performance was or if it was charging correctly. It seamed to last half a day unplugged before the cord broke.

I've since moved on to the same setup as you with LR atty's and ego batts. Man I've heard of so many people using the LR's on Ego batts. Looks like now would be a good time to save up for a mod, ouch!

Just out of curiosity do your ego batteries have the soft rubber button or the hard plastic style?

good luck.

Mine were the hard translucent switches. I agree basically with Brad's diagnosis, although I'm skeptical about LR as the sole factor, as I've been using them almost exclusively for months. What I suspect played a part (or at least knocked the switches over the edge) was that I had been hitting them really long all day in response to the crummy vapor production of several gunked-up attys, and I did notice things were getting quite hot. Anyway, I'll hobble through with my 510 hardware.
