Hi Everyone,

As vapers, I know most of us know and understand what's going on with the FDA's proposed regulations. I also know that most of us have loved ones who are thrilled to see us not smoking, but don't have a clue what's going on. Many of those people would do anything in their power to keep us smoke-free, and all we have to do is ask. I just posted this on my facebook page, and I'd love to see everyone else here post something similar. Let's get some critical mass here and force the FDA to listen. Here's what I posted, you're welcome to steal it word-for-word. You can also "like" it here.

And if you don't know what's going on, please join CASAA.org and get involved. The way these regulations are written, we could lose everything in two years. If you are a vaper, your future is at risk.

This is the post:

"[picture of my PV]

This is a personal vaporizer (aka e-cigarette). Because if it, I haven't smoked a cigarette in almost a month. They've gotten a bit of bad press lately, but the science is pretty clear - they are MUCH safer than smoking and they help people get off of the cancer sticks. You can find more here: www.casaa.org/FAQS_ecig.html

The FDA has recently proposed a new set of regulations for electronic ci...garettes that could be disastrous to anyone who relies on them to quit smoking. There's no question that regulation is necessary, but the ones that they're proposing will push small businesses to bankruptcy and hand the industry over to big tobacco. They will eliminate the advanced devices that have been so successful at helping people quit smoking and restrict the market to the low-quality junk you can buy at the gas station, effectively eliminating their value as a tool to quit smoking.

The FDA has spent 3 years writing these proposed regulations, but have only given the public 75 days to comment. Right now, the current and ex smokers in your life need your help. Please follow the instructions linked below to ask the FDA to give e-cigarette consumers more time to respond to the proposed regulations. I'm not asking anyone to object to the regulations in any way, just to please help us ask for more time to state our case. You could be helping to save your loved ones from their addiction to cigarettes.

Thank you in advance for your help."

Got the CASAA Call to Action and am working on my letter right now! Also watching the MN House where HF2402 is soon to be discussed.

If passed as-is, HF2402 will:

  • Redefine vaping & e-cigarette use as smoking. If you vape, according to the state, you are a smoker. This has far reaching implications. Could it affect your health insurance cost? Probably so - I will be considered a smoker.
  • Ban the public use of e-cigarettes. This includes many vape shops. This will also prohibit you from vaping in your home if you run a home based business, force you to stay in smoking rooms at Hotels, and prohibit you from vaping in townhomes, apartments, and other rental properties that prohibit smoking.
  • You will be forced to go outside and stand 25 to 50 feet away from entrances of buildings to vape.
  • Business owners will no longer have the choice as to whether they want to allow vaping in their establishment, even if they, themselves, vape. No more taste testing flavors before you buy.

If you are reading this, know what is going on in your state. States are not waiting for the FDA. They are enacting laws right now that will impact you and your ability to continue to vape.

Im going to send one of these letters as well, even though I don't live in the U.S. The regulations proposed seem far to harsh. as far as I can see they are trying to regulate a product that they have no adverse scientific reports on. That is apart from certain researchers who have funding from the F.D.A. to the tune of 22million dollars. These are the only reports ive seen claiming severe health risks from vaping.

Every vaper should act now to at least get more time for the ones who are compiling reports to fight this.

If the U.S makes these changes then its likely the E.U and U.K will follow.

Good luck to your fight.
