Suggesting the switch.

I have a supervisor who's quit smoking all together but early on in my employment I remembered he had mentioned that his wife on occasion still enjoys a cigarette. Since he and I share an office and I think we're kinda close having been working directly under him for 2 years I would like to bring up maybe introducing his wife to vaping as a healthier alternative but I'm unsure as to how I can bring the subject up appropriately. Has anyone else been in a situation similar to this or have any suggestions as to how I can bring it up?

Dear on the fence vapor,
I think your over-thinking this, someone else's smoking shouldn't be a taboo subject, Christmas is coming up get his wife a slim vaporizer, dont even ask him, its not rude to suggest a healthier alternative, just dont preach that your way is better, she obviously knows vaping is a thing since your boss does it, so her not doing it herself...well i sense some opposition to the idea, but if its in her hands she'll more likely than not try it, maybe even start an early new years resolution, good luck and Cheers!

Ah you misunderstood me. my boss does not vape either he just doesn't smoke. Anyways I don't know if I would feel comfortable just buying her a gift but I guess that'd be worth a try.
Does your boss know that you vape? Have you ever shared with him how vaping has helped you to quit? If not, I would start there. Do you even know if his wife still enjoys a cigarette once in a while? And how often is "on occassion"?

Besides if he has asked you about vaping and you talked to him about it he probably talked to his wife about it already xD

I kinda wanna tell my upstairs neighbour about it, but we aren't close like that. He knows I vape, he didn't show any interest. I remember when I first heard about vaping I thought, 'Oh great, something else to get addicted to, if I try that then I'll REALLY be hooked.' And then just kept desperately trying to quit altogether. It wasn't till I was pregnant and really struggling, starting up almost immediately after my son was born that I realized, if I can't quit for him, I can't quit for anything. After that vaping didn't seem like a bad alternative. Back to the topic, just don't focus on it but keep it in the back of your mind, if you see a chance to throw it out there, then go for it. No pressure. Whatever happens, happens.

Buying a present for your bosses wife is inappropriate. It would be great if you suggested a little starter kit & bottle of good juice for him to give her, though. A good juice with low nic since she's just an occasional smoker. Sounds like she has a pretty good grip on quitting, maybe just needs something when stressed at times.

To bring up the subject just ask him if his wife's occasional smoking bothers him, then you can tell him you know of an alternative that would be healthier for the both of them.

I would be RED HOT if a woman bought my man of almost 20 years a gift.

I'm not being offensive at all, just telling you how I'd react. Talk to your boss ;)

Take care,
Dani
