Well, for the new year i decided to get serious about quitting smoking. The other products out dont seem right for me so i decided I'm going to try using ecigs for the first time. I've been doing lots of research on products and have been scouring forums to get an idea of which products work best, if ecigs really help people kick their smoking habit, etc. So far everything I've read seems to really support the idea of ecigs.

I'm eager to get started, but I dont know where to start. From what I've read tho, I know what I would like out of a setup. Can someone suggest a product (or a combination of products) that has 1) a battery that lasts all day
2) can go all day without needing refilled
3) has a satisfying 'smoking feel'

Im not a very heavy smoker, so by all day I mean equivalent to less than a pack of cigarettes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was in a similar situation about a month ago. Today is my 30th day without an analog cig. I was extremely skeptical that i would ever find one as satisfying as a real cig. I've tried e cigs in the past but honestly 99% of them felt cheap and crappy. I also had a real problem with the idea of pre-filled carts. It just felt like I was peddling to a drug dealer having to buy those nic cartridges. A friend of mine told me about the one i currently use now but i was not interested at first. I was a pack a day smoker and i knew the guy who was telling me about yet another e cig was about a 1.5 pack per day smoker. Well after i watched him go from that 1.5 pack a day to only e-cigs cold turkey and then go 2 months with out an analog cig I gave it a try. I'm so thankful I did. The most difficult part of switching is the most important one. If your serious about switching you have to be willing to buy a quality product. Just because you can find 2 products that look to be the exact same it does not mean they are. The one i use now cost me about 100 bucks for the starter kit. The kit looks just like one i tried a year ago that only cost $65 but it turned out it is vastly different. The quality and the subtle differences are what is so important. Dont waste your money buying E-juices from random places just because they are cheap. I have a shoe box full of Cheap ejuice that is down right terrible. I efforts to keep the site more informational and lest commercial spam I wont even tell you which product I purchased unless you ask for it. Good luck on your switch.

glad someone wrote this because it saves me a lot of typing....cuz this is exactly my advice:

What Is The Best E-Cig? | eCigology

the only thing i can add to the above article, is also get a mega eGo cylindrical (type B) atomizer and cartridges, mega eGo cartomizers, and maybe a mega eGo drip tip..........then you are ALL SET....i am so satisfied with this set-up, so i just focus on trying all kind of juices (though my favorite is Fire & Ice by VaporBomb or Cinnamon Pear by Breezesmokes)

p.s. right now i think Liberty Flights sells the cheapest eGo starter kit (i just bought one for a friend last week, and based on my extensive shopping, thats what i found)

If you're smoking less than a 1/2 pack a day either a 510 or KR808 would probably work for you. It you're above that you might want to consider getting something with a bigger battery such as a standard eGo or Riva. To go all day without refilling you'd probably have to go with cartomizers such as the Mega carto's on an eGo/Riva. The standard 510 carto's last me about the equivalent of 5 cig's worth of vaping while the Mega carto will probably go for double that. To me the satisfying "smoking feel" is throat hit. I use low resistance atomizers to acheive that, but some people have reported battery failure while using them on their eGo's. I use mods now so I'm not concerned about that. I also never had a problem using them on my eGo batt's.

Hey quick I'm a fellow newbie but from the countless hours I've spent on the forums a pretty common choice is the 510 style e-cigs and 901 . Ego and riva for the more all day type smoking and using cartomizers for the convenience. Just my 2 cents I may change change my mind later but that's the consensus I'm retrieving from my researching. But as Travis says don't be afraid to spend some money to get quality.

Yea the one i use is a 501 style but basically its a uber quality one....it cost a little more and its branded but the atomizers last 6 months instead of 6 weeks. The bats are similar. Their juice is pretty expensive but its not watered down and you go threw it a slower than the cheap ones.

You are doing the best thing by doing research first....alot of crap out there. good luck staying out of it.

i agree, be careful, the DuoPro for example is not the best quality, The battery tends to overhead the cartomizer

I also have an ego, and used to smoke more than a pack per day. I use 24mg. nic. My favorite juice vendors are Vapor Bomb, Kick Bass vapor and Backwoods Brew.
Finding the right juice for me was the most expensive part of buying an ecig. You may want to let members here know what kind of juice you prefer. (Tobacco, dessert, or fruity) There are also some great tobacco blends (Like Backwoods Brew Applewood)

I think my absolute favorite juice is Carmel Cappuccino from Backwoods Brew and Kick ... Vapor.

If you are looking for a good throat hit, make sure to order 80% Pg when possible.

As far as the most convenient to vape all day, the Ce2 cartomizers work well, and there are new clear ones that are quite a craze right now, and may be hard to find. They are just now hitting the market. I have 50 of them on the way, from a couple of different places. These take some work to fill, but the new ones come with a little pipette to fill, and syringes with needles work to fill them also.

Recently I purchased some LR306 attomizers for dripping. They are slightly smaller around than the joy 510 attys, so the ego cone is better to take off when dripping. Dripping is the only thing you can do with these on your ego, but the flavor, throat hit, and vapor are unbelieveable. It think it is due to the slightly different design, but I dont mind dripping. I also carry around a filled cartomizer for convenience. I have never run out both batteries in one day, and I buy everything from Liberty flights.

Cheers

I was half pack a day, too. I went with the kr808 and love it. My battery usually lasts through an entire shift at work. Get a kit with two batteries, and a couple of filled cartomizers and you are good to go for the entire day, even chain vaping. It's a simple two piece design, you can refill the carts. The "smoking" feel is achieved with amount of vapor produced (808 is good for that) and "throat hit" (I am not a fan of that, myself) and can be done with the mix of base liquid, usually PG, nicotine level, and alcohol added (pure grain alcohol like vodka or everclear, blegh) For the "throat hit" people I mix juice for, I use a 10-20%PG (propylene glycol) level, 24mg nicotine, and they are happy. Myself is no hit, so I am 100% VG (vegetable glycerin), a touch of menthol, and it's smooth sailing all the way.

At a half pack a day, I was able to successfully knock the ciggies to the curb with a moderate strength nicotine level of around 22mg from day one (at that level). You can get the prefilled cartomizers or juice in 24 mgs and that will make you pleasantly happy by satisfying that nicotine need (craving) as well as the hand to mouth habit. Going over that usually resulted in a headache for me, which means too much nicotine (more than what your body is accustomed to)

Vapor4life has great flavors in prefilled cartomizers, as well as freedomsmokesusa, vaporbomb, or vapesafe for juice. Start with samplers of juice, like velvetvapors.com to find what you like. Remember, you are NEVER limited to tobacco flavors! Personally, I mix my own, this weeks outing is mango, pineapple, cranberry, and lemon with a hint of menthol.

Vape yourself silly, don't be afraid to carry the dang thing around like a pocket pet (I type while palming my 808) and one thing to know; the nic is absorbed differently now (in your mouth more), so it will take a smidge longer to realize that "smoothing of the nerves" than a regular ciggie. No more head rush, just a few minutes and the smoothing flows over you (I wax poetic).
You will also learn how to inhale differently, not sucking it right into your lungs, but rather inhale into your mouth, hold a few moments, then complete the draw into your lungs. If you are craving the "hit", draw it right in.

Good luck, you are in the right place! There is no chance for failure here, because no one ever fails in this forum :) There is a wealth of experience here, and they are here to be used. Ask away, no question is too silly, too trivial, or too serious. Just replacing one ciggie is a success. I have no doubt you will do just fine :)

To the OP I can only recommend the Joye Ego since that's the one I bought my dad, currently in search of a new one. I knew that battery life is one of the most important things when making the transition and I have read that others like Blu Cig only lasted about an hour. My dad smokes usually about a pack a day and goes through 2 ego batteries a day which is perfect since the ego kit came with 2 batteries. Each battery lasts about 3-4 hrs (these ones are 650 mah) and I got him the 900mah one and that one lasts about 6 hrs for him.

As for refilling. Some people went to cartomizers, my dad decided to got with a stockpile of the regular cartridges. He honestly looks like a drug dealer mixing all the liquids lol.

I can't say anything about the smoking feel, but my dad is satisfied with his. Hasn't smoked an analog for more than 3 months now.

Would you mind stating which brand it is? 6 months for an atty is great compared to the 2weeks the ones I'm buying right now. and how much do they cost? currently I'm spending $18 for 2 every two weeks.

The previous suggestions are very good. A 510 or ego style cylinder type battery are great devices. I would also second the idea of getting some cartomizers (esp XL's for up to 2 ml of juice) for something that will last a whole day. I easily became frustrated constantly filling the old polyfill cartridges. Smoking is easy (light it up and puff), adding a lot of work to vape eventually gets to be too much. You need to find the easiest way to satisfy to urge..

I would also suggest finding a 'go to' company that has a wide variety of product, a good reputation and has a good return policy for defective products. For me, it is Volcano Ecigs. I've returned several batteries that crapped out or were DOA. Volcano has never given me any hassle, even if the item was months old.. Gotta love that.

Good luck and happy vaping

Hi Quickhand, and welcome. My first drag from an e-cig was from a kit I purchased from my local tobacco shop. It didn't have much vapor, and didn't taste the best, but it did have one thing that got me a little excited. What it had was a nice little whollup at the back of my throat and upper lungs. I figured I could make it work. Battery problems forced me to do a little more research and I ordered a Joye 510 kit three days later. I received it three days after that and that was also the day I smoked my last analog. That was back in July. My lungs starting clearing up very quickly--I was very much amazed at how fast I went from 'smokers rattle' to clean clear deep breaths. So--you are on the right track, and my advise is to pay close attention to what TravisLSU is saying above. The industry is still relatively young, but improving rapidly, and often the best prices on newer kits are only a few dollars more that the best prices on the older ones. But-- number three of your requirements is about the only one most kits can meet. In my mind it's the most important one, and you can find ways to work around the other problems. Again-Welcome. Later, JD. :vapor:

This is where the wife and I started a year ago. Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. They now carry https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-ego-all.htm which wasnt available when we started.

You will NOT find a better place to start. There are some as good as cignot..but hard to find. Shoot her an e mail with any questions...see how fast you get an answer. Then do the same with any other supplier. That is how I pick where I spend money.

Disclaimer...Just my humble opinion.

If you would miss the hand-feel of a traditional cigarette, a KR808D-1 is an ideal choice. My setup for all-day vaping, if I want the look and hand-feel of an analog is a pair of 808 batteries and a personal charging case (PCC).

If I don't care about the look/feel of an analog and only want to carry around one battery, a CigPig (a long-life KR808D-1) is excellent! The CigPig and a spare cartomizer (in addition to the one loaded onto the 'Pig) allows me to chain vape all day.

For dripping, I use a Joye Ego (510 style) with an atomizer and a drip tip. This allows me to try multiple flavors without having to fill cartomizers (which BTW, isn't difficult at all)! I haven't yet used cartos or cartridges with my Ego; I have many bottles of juice to try. <grin>

Buying your gear from a reputable dealer is very important. Even the "best" brands of batteries have what is to me, an unacceptably high failure rate. I have had to dispose of two KR808D-1's and a cheap Joye Ego...and I've only been seriously vaping since Thanksgiving.

The good news: I have only smoked four analogs since Thanksgiving, and the most recent one was over three weeks ago.

Be careful: We cannot make claims. E-cigarettes are *NOT* a smoking cessation aid... just ask the FDA (Fostering Death and Agony). They'll tell you. While patches, gum, lozenges and Chantix all have an 86%+ failure rate, they *are* approved, but e-cigs, despite the pages and pages of anecdotal evidence are *not*.

Be careful! The FDA is watching us.

Ciego I love your ending statement because it's so true... The only way you will effectively make an e-cig a smoking cessation product is if you were able to get big tobacco to invest in their own version of e-cig so that the multi million dollar lobbying they have already done could be utilized to vaping as well. Face it, to big tobacco vaping is the enemy
