Suggestions for Casing for 18650 Mod?

So I've got a pair of 18650s coming in and I want to do a mod with them, strictly because of the mAh rating on them.

But I am having trouble finding something suitable to use as either a box mod, flashlight, or any other kind of casing for them.

Who's done a mod with these, and what did you use as a housing for your mod?

Some 3/4" copper pipe works well.

Will also take a pair of 3V Tenergy Li-PO's which with a Joye 510 produce about 5V under load.

Copper pipe is definitely one of the things I've considered.

How do you keep the end cap on for the batteries?

How did you handle the top battery connection?

I used one of those performance tool flashlights. Works very good. I just cant put it in my pocket it has no on/off switch. But I love it, and have been using it for months now. It's the most reliable mod I've done to date.

I got the flashlight on the left from stop and shop for $10. It holds an 18650 with the bottom switch removed.

18650 batteries will not fit inside a-2xaa flash light. 14500 will though.

I had an idea this morning......

Wooden dowel from Lowes

Hollow it out and use this for end caps

The only thing I'm having trouble with is how to connect the battery ground while still allowing for taking off the bottom cap to change batteries.

That dowel, being poplar or birch is rather soft wood, and if you take down 25.4mm to 19mm for a 18650, it will leave the walls fairly thin. A 14500 version would probably work better. However, those end caps on a metal tube would be pretty nice too and with a small screw and a thin springy metal strip to the tube the ground is sorted. Perhaps then even a veneer to get back the woody look?
