Hi, all. I'm fairly new to the forum but have learned a tremendous amount from the posts here at ECF. Thought I would pass along some of what I've picked up to the new members that might make the forum more useful to you:

1. Take the time to go back through the existing threads before you start a new one. I'd suggest going back for at least six months and reading all the posts in the New Members Forum. Go back at least a year in the specialized forums and read what's there. You'll likely find the answer to almost any question you might have as a new member. It seems the same questions get asked over and over so there's no reason to ask it again if the answer is already here. Just by reading existing threads I've learned how to double or even triple the life of my wicks, learned about glass tanks that might fit my rig and picked up the basics of mixing my own juice without ever having to create a new thread.

2. Familiarize yourself with the specialized forums and what's there. Often you can get a more complete answer to your question from specialists than you can from other newbies.

3. Yes, you have to post at least five times in the new member forum before you can post elsewhere but those five posts can include responses to existing threads. You don't have to create a new thread for your post to count.

4. Don't put your posts in the wrong forum. There's likely a specialized forum (there are lots of them) for what you want to post. For example, recipes don't belong in the General e-liquid Forum. There's a special forum for them.

5. Don't necessarily settle for a single answer to your question. There are lots of opinions and personal preferences on here. Take what's there and make your own decision.

6. Keep track of new posts, which are frequent, especially in the New Member Forum. Your new question might have been answered earlier in the day.

7. Have fun on ECF and learn all you can, even if it's not necessarily something you're interested in right now. You'd be surprised at the different aspects of e-cigs you might eventually develop an interest in. This is a great community of like-minded people. Use it as a resource.

8. If you DO have a question that hasn't been answered before don't hesitate to ask it, even if it seems "dumb." Someone else might be wondering about the same thing but is afraid to ask.

As in everything else on this forum, these are only my personal opinions!

Yes, a lot is opinion - but facts are facts. One persons opinion does not change a fact.:2cool:
