I bought a smoktec carto dct1 (I think) and I'm not getting much flavor at all. I've switched the carto several times and it just seems to be a dull flavor. Any suggestions on a different tank? I've also tried changing flavors because I know using the same one gets dull. Still the same issue.

Here is a picture of it

The flavor has nothing to do with the tank as far as I know but everything to do with the cartomizer. That said, I usually use the ones from IB Tanked, but I recently bought a bunch of the Smok Tec DCTs because they're so cheap! And in mine the flavor is outstanding, even with the stock cartos (although in some of them I put different ones). Are you sure it's not the juice you're using? I get way more flavor with cartotanks than I do from clearos.

It's really important, though, to prime the carto correctly. If you don't do this you won't get the flavor, and it'll likely burn. Have you read Baditude's blog on priming?

I thought I'd been priming it correctly but I'll definitely read the blog tomorrow. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I have several juices from different places so I don't think that's it. I tried the same ones in my Evod and the flavor was much better. Of course the Provari trumps the Evod in general, it's just the flavor that seems to be off. When do you know when a carto needs to be replaced? I've gone through several but it's probably because I'm not really sure how to tell when I need a new one.

How many tanks of juice have you run through it? Time to replace when the flavor drops off imo. I swap so many around I can't really tell you how long mine last for - and different juices last different lengths of times. Are you sure you've got enough volts turned up on the Provari for the carto? For instance some of my cartos are 3ohms and I run them at around 4.5-8. For the 2 ohm cartos I run them around 3.5 or so. A well primed carto often crackles when you first run it.

There are times you will get a dud carto. Also, I'm not familiar with that set up, but is the carto single or two punched and is it single or dual coil? I have found the best flavor comes from two punched, single coil cartos. Again, just IMO.

If you got a dud carto, Ocelot has a great blog on here about swapping out the carto (it's easy) and maybe try a new one.

If it's a juice you are familiar with and it's tasting off or muted, it's time for a new carto.

Hopefully you primed your carto adequately.

Baditude's Cartotank Setup Guide

If you are using the cartos that comes with that tank, they are likely to be Smoktech dual coil cartomizers. I'm personally not a fan of those carts.

I recommend getting some pre-punched Smoktech single coil cartos, 2.5 - 3.0 ohm for use in your tank on a Provari. This could provide a noticeable difference in flavor perception.

You might also want to try a couple of pre-punched Boge standard resistance (XL length) or Ikenvape Mega standard resistance cartomizers (if in stock) to just compare between brands to see which you prefer. Most people strongly prefer one brand of cartomizer over another.

Rarely, I'll get a bad carto right out of a box. Just doesn't taste right and nothing can be done to improve it.

I switch out to a new carto when the draw becomes too tight or the flavor becomes muted/vapor production falls. The color of the liquid has a lot to do with how long a carto lasts; cartos with dark flavors tend to not last as long as lighter colors.

I think I'll go to the local store today and look at different carto's to try to find a different one. I'm not sure how long I used each one because (like a dummy) I kept changing them out trying to get the taste better. Now they all run together. I love the tank I have cause it's easy to use and I like easy. I'll ask about carto's and maybe try one of the tanks mentioned above. I also need to brush up on ohm's. I don't change those much. Obviously I should be. Thanks for all the help. I'm still learning about this thing but I love it.

Great great info. they were the ones that came with the tank. There are 3 holes on the long silver part and two on the part that screws in.

I can't tell by this pic of its single or dual coil. Did it come in a box of five? If you have the box it should be on there. Or if you got it at a B&M, call them and ask or if from a website, look it up. Maybe it's in the description?

And to tell how many hole punched it is, it will be the number of holes on the actual stem part above the flange. If you see three, then it's a three hole punched. If your juice is high PG/thin, it may be getting too much juice? I think three hole are better for very heavy VG/thicker juices.

also..you might want to find out what OHMs it is too

EDIT- and don't feel that way!!! I had to have a LOT of help figuring carto tanks out. If your new to it, like all of us at one time were, it's all a learning curve. You're at the right place cuz there's so many super knowledgable peeps on here to help. I'm still learning all of this too.

You can easily check the ohms or resistance on the Provari with its built-in ohm meter. 13 clicks gets you the ohm's meter.

Some cartos will have the brand and ohm rating lasered on the steel shaft, but most don't.

The cartos that come with Smoktech DCT tanks are almost always dual coils. It's Smoktech's longstanding attempt to get customers to use the dual coils. (Smoktech makes both single and dual coil cartos.) Most people like single coils. Interesting that Boge and Ikenvape never bothered to make dual coils.....;)

I get my cartos from ibtank, they are smok single coil.
As a general rule, with out having to know ohms law or look at charts, check your atomizer ohms, add two and dont go over that number in voltage.

Ex. If my ohms read 2.3.... Add 2 so i know to not set my volts higher than 4.3.
I usually back of .3 from that, so id vape at 4 for a few mins, then check another resistance up or down. See if it tastes better or worse, its just fine tuning.

You probably have a dual coil and they suck.
Flavor in my cartotanks is smoother and stronger than any clearo ive tried and ive tried close to 20

Okay, mine only goes up to 2.1. Is that right? For the ohms
