If you are looking for something cig sized, I can't recommend the eRoll enough. It's smaller than a 510, but works like an ego. It uses an unregulated battery for great power, and a ego c atomizer. Check out the eRoll thread. The PCC is good for 10+ hours.

I think this is probably the best starter setup, particularly for under a PAD smoker.

It really is convenient, similar size and experience to smoking.

I think recommendations for a big mod or even ego batteries are less likely to be successful.

What makes the eroll more likely to succeed is that it is much more pocket friendly then these other devices. He only smokes 1/2 to 1/3 pack a day? Why would he want to carry around these devices all day? The eroll is perfect for him.

I started nearly 2 years ago with Bloog autos and have never switched to anything else. They feel very like an analog. I recently converted a sixty-something guy with a lifelong habit by letting him try out my Bloog kit. If you go for a couple of mid-length auto batteries and a good stock of pre-filled cartos, your dad should find it hassle-free and very satisfying.

From my experience recently moving into rebuildables... Cartos and a vivi nova are both something to try and start with together so he has options... Cartos preferably, due to the ease of use and options available... I started with a lavatube, but the ego is extremely easy and simple to setup... Ego or lavatue are a great starting point paired with 510 cartos and vivi nova... Guarateed to keep his interest

I'm your father, Luke. 60 year old 40 year heavy smoker. I started with and still use Smokeless Image products. A Volt battery with cartomizers is the simple solution. I'm sure he can learn from there.

As for flavor, I'm afraid you will have trouble selecting that for him. What sounds good often isn't because vaping and eating are completely different. I would suggest some small samples or variety packs so he can find what works for him.

Im afraid disposables may leave a bad first impression and therefore putting him off vaping entirely. If i hadnt ordered my 510t kit before vaping disposable, i would have given up on vaping already.

As for flavors, i have always found vanilla to be an excellent starting point. Not a lot of people dislike the smell of good, plain ole vanilla :D

I'm looking at the product pages and it looks like:

the X has a higher mAh battery, but it appears to only comes in automatic

the M is a manual battery

the A is an automatic battery

the T comes with a cartridge/atomizer system (rather than cartomizers like the others), but I can't figure out if it's a manual or auto battery

Being from Chicago I order from these guys quite a bit, they even let me pick up if I'm in the area :) Anyhow, just to clarify, everything here is correct and the 510T comes with an automatic battery. Here's a simple breakdown as far as I can tell.

510A: Automatic 180 mAh batt w/cartomizers
510M: Manual 180 mAh batt w/cartomizers
510T: Automatic 180 mAh batt w/atomizer-tank
510X: Automatic 320 mAh batt w/atomizer-tank

The attys and cartos are interchangedable-------> Compatibility Chart

For the money $17.99-$23.99 + FS, you can't go wrong. Good Luck!
