I'm not a smoker, but I really want my dad to quit. He's 48(or at least 48...), and he should've stopped years ago (I'm 18, and he's been smoking every year of my life). He's tried nicotine patches and gum to no avail, so I'm really hoping these will give him the push he needs.

I'm planning on getting him a VX2 from Litecig, I hope that one is very "newb" friendly? Everyone who used it sounded pretty sold by it, but I hope it doesn't take a E-cig pro to use it.

And of course, extra atomizer, and I was planning on buying him some juice.

I don't know how much he smokes per day, but I think he does about half a pack or less. I will find out later before buying him juice. He exclusively smokes "State Express 555", and I noted there is a liquid for it on Litecig. I was wondering if anyone also smoked this, and if there was any specific recommendations on a site that sold a liquid that tasted very close to it?

Being a biology major, I stole new syringes and pipettes (don't worry, we were throwing these away after one use!) from my chem lab at school as well as some other tools I suspected I'd need.

So I do have a few questions still:

How many drops of liquid does it take to refill a cart from a 501? I ask this because the VX2 has a similar cart size, I heard. This would also help me calculate what strength of liquid I should buy.

Is there any trick to getting a good "drag" out of a Ecig? He tends to finish cigarettes in 5-6 drags.

I've never tried the 555, but there really isn't a juice out there which can completely duplicate the flavor of a real cig. But once your Dad tries a few flavors I bet he will find something he really likes. But by all means try the 555 from Litecig and I would get the 16mg version for him since that is the highest available for that flavor from Litecig.

The VX2 takes 10 drops of liquid using an empty cart.

As to getting a good drag, that's where your Dad will have to readjust his smoking/vaping method. You really need to take long, slow drags out of e-cigs to get the best result.

I really like my VX2, it gets a lot of use along with my 510. I think it's a good unit for a newcomer.

Anyway, that's a great gift to get your Dad for Fathers Day !!!

With my vx2 (j118) I get the best results with long slow deliberate drags. Where with analogs most people do a mouth pull then inhale, you do a lung pull with the vx2. You can sorta like, gauge the "sweet spot" with the tip of your tongue, and the warmth of the vapor on it. Especially with the sweeter juices. It's one of the reasons I almost immediately preferred the vx2 over the "real thing". You don't get that kind of feedback and control with a cigarette. As for drops, no clue. I refill empties by taking out the filler material entirely, filling it up to almost the top, then putting the filler material back in slowly. Then I drip that cart with that flavor forever. I'd suggest getting a bunch of empties (I got 5 of the five packs) since they are cheap as sin, and make it really easy to start a new flavor without the lingering notions of an old one.

hope this helps

for blank carts (not refilling), the 510 takes .5ml, the JX118 *very* slightly more, like .55ml.

Unless he smokes 'whistle tip' e-cigs, I'd get him the 510, but..you can check my video review on the J118, the 510 is all around better, for me. Either way, get him a PCC.

Note the J118 carts have no 'cap' so you're pretty much filling them via refills one at a time, with no good way to seal them up. Or, you'll be buying only pre-filled. The 510 carts come with little end caps, so you can fill or refill a dozen or more in one go and not worry about them leaking out, etc...so I'd go with the 510 over the J118 for that and other reasons, if you plan on refilling - refilling is ok, but not one at a time for a newbie, IMO.

I've tried 555 e-liquid, but not the actual 555 smokes, so no comment there.

I'd actually add to this a little. The 510 also lends itself better to the cheek pull then inhale style of smoking that you get from a regular cigarette. The pull is more cigarette-like, and you will get substantially more vapor smoking it like a traditional cigarette than you would from a j118/vx2. My only 510 downer would be, I know none of my j118 atty's came with primer fluid, but both of my Dura-C's had to be soaked in distilled white vinegar to get rid of the horrible acrid primer taste. I know if I had started with the Dura-C and didn't know that's what tasted so bad, and just assumed that's what it was always going to be like, I'd have put it in a drawer and went back to analogs. I can't speak for other 510 vendors though. It might just be a Janty thing.

EDIT: To be clear, I'm saying Weg is right, the 510 is probably the better answer, and going to the grocery store to get some distilled white vinegar to soak the Dura-C atty's in before gifting your dad with the kit would be pretty easy.

I just got a VX2 today, which I bought for my girlfriend.
I like it so much Im going to be keeping one of them lol.

It came with a PCC which is absolutely awesome, charges batteries on the go which makes it way more convenient.

The cart tips for them are not round, they have an awkward whistle shape, but it works fine for me.
I have found its basically the same as my 901, but the carts are a lot easier to deal with.
I think it would be a great starter e-cig.

I dont have a 510, so no say there.
    But I do want one
