I have been smoking cigarettes for nearly 20 years(1/2-1 pack a day). As I see the years in front of me it sickens me that I have wasted so much time and money into such a dirty habit. I am ready to give up cigarettes and make the change to vaping.
I have tried vaping before and liked it but I can't seem to make a smooth transition. It's not that I don't like it but my co workers (who are smokers) are not supportive nor is my boyfriend. My co workers make me feel bad and stupid for smoking "that thing" and just poke fun. My boyfriend who is not a smoker just thinks I can quit any time....
Ok long story short. I have a simple set up e leaf 20w and aspire Nautilus mini and a vision spinner mini with aspire k2 tank (which is my favorite because of size). I care about simplicity and do like vv. Currently I have 18mg,12mg and 6 mg juice. I am just lost. I don't know if my outside influences are making it harder for me to quit analogs or if I'm doing something wrong. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks!

Hang in there and keep Vaping-----------as it seems to grow on you.............

At first I could not imagine myself pushing the button everytime I wanted a draw------but it seems natural now and I have been enjoying

the different flavors and different air settings you can use............The more you vape the more you begin to fall in love with this

hobby..............

try switching like i did, instead of focusing on the nicotine level, try to search for a flavour that makes your mouth have a little orgasm, or hunt for a cloud size that could rival google, focus in the persuit of them, and you will find you need less and less of your nicotine hit, and instead get crazings for that clean, cool, healthy, flavoursome vape taste or monumental plume of steamy white perfection..... idk, thats what swtiched me a little under two years ago, and i havent gone back since (although now im spending all my ... money (excuse the terminoligy, im english) on new juices aha

Hi Ang747. Welcome to the ECF.

First of All. You are doing Fine. Quitting Smoking can be Very Hard. So don't feel like this is Just You. Many of us had a Hard Time. I know I Did.

My Advise to you is give Yourself the Gift of Time. Don't worry if you Can't Quit all at once. Many of Us Ramped Down on Analogs while we Ramped Up on e-Cigarettes.

And Don't worry about Co-Workers or People around you. Your Doing this for Yourself. Because Quitting Smoking is the Single Biggest thing you can do in your Life to Improve your Health.

Drink a Lot of Water. Try to get a Little More Exercise than you Normally would. And come to the ECF and Ask a LOT of Questions.

You Can Do It. It just can be Hard and sometimes Frustrating in the Beginning.

But You Can Do It!

I quit a 40 year pack-a-day habit in one day using the simple Spinner with 24 mg juice for about a month, then I continually lowered the nic down to 3-6 mg.

You can do the same thing, just vape every time you get the urge to have a smoke and keep hitting the vape until the nic urge passes. A good tasting juice certainly helps, but anything tastes better than a foul cigarette when you think about it.

After you get the hang of it, try different types of mods, tanks, juice flavors. There are so many different variations available now it's unreal.

Keep vaping, soon you won't even want a cigarette...!

Congratulations on your decision to improve your health and your quality of life by vaping!

I'm so sorry you're having a hard time with this. Once I found the right nicotine level for me -- which was 18 mg. it was easy! Often people who can't make vaping work are using juice that doesn't have enough nicotine in it, so I would advise you to stick with the 18 mg. juice or get some with an even higher nicotine content. I think SlicedTomatoz is giving you good advice in advising you to find a juice you absolutely love! I loved the taste of the juice so much more than I loved the taste of the cigs, that as long as I was getting enough nicotine, I strongly preferred vaping over smoking. Do you have a few juices that you love?

I was lucky however, to have people in my life who were extremely supportive of my choice to vape. Of course it's harder for you without that support. How could it not be? I hope you will keep at it, be strong and come here for encouragement and advice. There are multitudes of people here who want to help.

Don't worry what anyone thinks. You are doing this for you! You have started on a path to becoming smoke free if they wanna poke fun, poke back. You have made a choice to partake in a safer alternative to cigarettes. Remember that anything that can keep you from smoking cigarettes is worth shouting from the rooftops! Hang in there you can do it..any info/support can be found here 24/7

plus i cant say much about nic levels, i started out on 36mg on an iclear 16d and an innokin itaste ep and stepped wayyyyy down because of nic headaches (i mean the thing never left my hand) and nowadays using drippers i shudder at the idea of anything more than 3mg, so ang747, theres no need to worry or nothing, im sure everyone else here will agree, if it wasnt for trial and error, we would all probbably still be using traditional cigarettes (or that god awful gum )

I appreciate all your feedback. I'm sure with time I can make the transition. And you're all right...its trial and error for the NIC levels. I'm afraid of getting to much nicotine too so I don't know how much vaping is to much..... Plus I have been an outdoor smoker for years so needless to say it's weird for me to smoke inside anywhere! I have gotten so use to my "time out- smoke breaks" that I look forward to sneaking off and smoking. I guess I can do the same thing and go outside. I just have a lot of habits to break. I associate smoking with so much. As soon as I have a drink it's all over I want a real one..... But like you all said "in time" I really appreciate each and every one of you. You are already a great support system.

Sounds like you have a good plan. There's nothing wrong with taking vape breaks outside. I didn't worry about getting too much nicotine. If you start feeling a bit dizzy you might have gotten too much nicotine and then you can just not vape as much or you can buy juice with a lower nic ratio.

Great plan, I bet you will be smoke free in no time...!

A Big Congratulations too!...you made a great choice to stop smoking. I wish I would have listened to friends who quit the cigs with vaporizers. I kept saying to myself, those things can't possibly work....wow...was I ever wrong...!!

you can still take your vape breaks outdoors, i prefer HAVE to take them outside (i work as a commis chef and have collage), pretty much all employers will let you take a vape break just like a smoke break.

and as for nic 'overdose', its less scary than you think, its not like having too much coke or ...., you just get a headache, feel a little nausiated, you might get a slightly tight chest but as long as you dont DRINK your ejuice, then a mild headache is the worst your gonna get, even then it only lasts an hour or so (and you can feel it coming too so you have time to stop vaping and get some fresh air) and like i said, i only got them because i used to smoke a STUPID amount, wayyyy more than you so i used very high nic content juice, and id use it all day, no joke, from the minute i woke up till the moment i slept, all day long so aslong as your not a muppet like i was and keep your nic to say, 1.8 (a high average for somone who smoked like you), you will be golden.

best of luck to you x

I just went with my urges. If I vape and got a physical urge 25 minutes later, take 2 extra draws or increase your Nic. Emotions can play into it just like smoking cigs.

As to taste, my taste buds were pretty burnt from cigs. Someone said go with mints for a few weeks. For me, and I read other's, it was longer. Take a Lemon Pie juice. You may taste that bright lemon, but do you taste the crust? Overall, I am amazed by flavors now. I smoked a long time, though. Smell came back in 2-3 weeks. I realized just how bad smokers smelled. And, that having a mint to conceal doesn't work.

Anyway, get an urge, take 5 draws and see how long until the next urge. Also, for a good while, I vape a step up in nic with my morning coffee and a lower Nic in the evening when I vape more in front of the TV. Just remember, you are not smoking.

Your setting is pretty sweet... You now what? I still have smokers at home and when they're mad at me they sometime yell " Go smoke your vape" or "Go twist your wires". I love both of them... there is still cigs around my house all the time, but the last I tried, I couldn't take more than 3 puffs... before I washed my mouth that felt like an ash tray... Go figure now after 20+ years smoking, I cannot take that thing no more.

You're doing great. I used to get those kinds of comments, especially from smokers. We'll probably always get those kinds of comments, but I know that most non-smokers really appreciate the lack of smokey smell and the better breath I have today. And many let me vape in their homes, which is a really cool advantage over smoking. Doesn't mean I don't go outside sometimes anyway for my private time, but it means it is my decision. Congratulations. So far, so good.

36mg! good god that's too high!
Yes everyone here are good and absolutely support your vaping, but in real life you face pressure from people around, just find out best flavor and nic level for you, then you will be easier to keep vape on.
Just like drinking water, no one knows how hot or cold it's but only you know.(a great say recently from one of my Chinese friends) so if you know vaping is good for your health, the only problem is find out the best way vaping.

For devices, Kanger SUBVOD may be a great piece for vaping on the go, and Wismec Reuleaux is nice and powerful for home vaping.

May the vapor be with you!

EDIT: Word correction.
