OK...I have been vaping my 510 for some time now. I am extremely grateful that my e-cig has kept me off analogs! I have learned to make my own ejuice and have experimented with many wonderful flavors. I even purchased a PCC and 2 USB passthroughs along with an adapter for my car. However, I am encountering some irritations with all this and wonder if y'all can make some suggestions...

1) I am getting really, really tired of trying to keep enough batteries charged! I cannot always use my passthrough so this is becoming a weary and constant task. Are there other e-cigs whose batteries last longer and still produce the vapor and taste that my 510 does?

2) My passthroughs do not always seem to work right. I have no idea what type of battery is in them. Does it need to be charged, or replaced on a regular basis? I took the battery to a local Bi-mart and they had no idea what it was, and the voltage was much lower than some other batteries they had in stock that listed the voltage.

3) The atomizers seem to work off and on as well, and I blow them out and clean them.

Mainly...I just want to know if there is another brand of ecig out there that works great with less charging and less finicky atomizers? Or am I just entertaining wishful thinking?

Thanks for any suggestions on ecig brands that might work better.

I'll respond with what little experience I have as I've only been vaping for 3 weeks, but it's been primarily on the 510.

1) Depending on which 510 batteries you have, some have an LED while others do not, I personally have found the LED batteries last significantly less time than the non LED batts, also manuals in general will last longer than autos. Other than that I do believe you can get some slightly larger batteries for the 510 that are supposed to last a bit longer, or go with a mod would be your only option. (dietsmokes.com has non-LED manual batts)

2) I have yet to try the PT so I'll leave this to someone experienced with them, lol

3) Again, for atomizers it really seems to makea difference as to where they come from. I have gotten atomizers from 2 different sources (dietsmokes.com and bestecig.com) and the ones from bestecig.com for some reason seem stronger/more robust to me. I noticed the steel wool part is quite a different shape on theirs compared to the others I've gotten, so I assume that has something to do with it.

Overall, it seems like from all the reading I have been doing on these forums, even though I haven't posted much, you would probably be well served to look into a mod to give you the battery life you are looking for and maybe just better 510 atomizers. I personally have only used 3 different models but am totally loving the 510 atomizers, no matter where they came from.

I WOULD SUGGEST A MOD.

Like the protege from puresmoker or another mod like thagbuilt.com little chuck.
510 is not a bad atty at all. you can get a mod to use your existing 510 attys but you will get the satisfaction of a bigger battery that will last in most cases all day without change and they are cheap.

I am getting 3 days of use off a 18650 battery in the Chuck at 3.7v.

The chuck can also do 6v using 2-RCR123a batts. (Reg Chuck unit)

Whatever device you choose, There are many alternatives to the little 510 cig youre using that are way better in battery life.

GET A MOD and get away from those little 510 ecig units. keep it as a backup.

I still have my first 510 but dont use it unless the world comes to an end..lol

If you don't mind using a passthrough, would you mind using a battery mod?

There are lots of mods that use the same voltage you're using now, but offer much longer battery life. You can get a Chuck or Little Chuck and vape for days without changing a battery, and I'm pretty sure there are other 510-compatible mods at 3.7v. There are also homemade mods you can buy in the Suppliers and Classified forums here, that might look kind of funky but will let you vape for hours or days without a battery change.

As for the 510 attys, some people like the 901 better (I haven't seen the 901 e-cig but I think it's about the same size as the 510), so you might try that. AltSmoke sells 510-801 and 510-901 adapters, but not a 801-901 adapter. You could buy a 901 atty and an adapter and try it (510 carts will work with 901s), without ponying up for the batteries and charger right away.

I have been using a 510 since July 6th. I am on my second atty and only on the second one because I messed up the first one. I also use a 901 and now that I have quit cleaning it the 901 attys last a long time too. I'm on 11 weeks on this one. I am a firm believer that you can clean them too much and it just shortens the life of them. They are made for e juice, not alcohol and boiling water. But that is just my opinion and experience.

As for passthrus, never understood why one had to have a battery in it. Doesn't it get powered by the USB on your computer or portable power supply? My son made a nicostick passthru without any battery after I was given one by Nerf, several months ago and its still going strong. (So is the one Nerf gave me!) They really aren't hard to make.

As for battery life, either learn to solder and make a mod or order one from somewhere. The 510 battery life sucks and that is the only bad thing I can say about one.

I've been using a 901 with manual batteries and a manual passthru. I've gone through a lot of automatic batteries in two months and I think I've flooded most of them into oblivion. I've just ordered a Little Chuck with a 901 adapter, and have some rechargeable LI Ion 16340 batteries for it that heavy vapers like me say they usually get a day out of them, and I have some 18350 LI Ion batteries coming in that have about 1/3 more capacity. I'm looking forward to getting it! You can also get them with 510 adapters. The Little Chuck is 3.5 inches long, and the Chuck is 5 inches long, and uses batteries - 18650 - that last 3-4 days and can also be used to vape at 5 volts. Jeffakamax makes them and will customize them with different colors and graphics of your choice. See Thagbuilt.com - they cost $80 (including shipping), and if you look at the thread "How to spend a Saturday" in the Suppliers forum you can see a lot of examples of customized Chucks and Little Chucks. At the moment, they take about 2 weeks to get, because there's a waiting list for them. You can also see written and video reviews in the Reviews forum.

I'm also interested in the Xhaler from Nhaler - see the Nhaler forum to get a preview of what these will look like - Drew at Nhaler is still working out the last of the details with his manufacturer and isn't taking orders until he actually has them in stock. I'm looking forward to seeing the reviews when they're introduced and the details of the size/batteries/etc. I'm hoping I'll be able to use batteries that work with the Little Chuck or the Chuck, assuming I get an Xhaler.

I just placed my Little Chuck order this morning, and I've asked Jeffakamax to design it for me with images from my college, and I've asked him to choose among several different base colors for the body and the endcaps. I'm looking forward to seeing the design soon, and having my Little Chuck around Halloween.

But in the meantime I carry 3 or 4 charged manual batteries with me to work, and vape at home and in my car with the passthrus, and clean my atties every couple of days so I can rotate among three of them.

By the way, the 901 manual passthrus do not have a separate 'battery' like the 510, so that's one less thing I need to worry about.

I haven't tried the 510, and I chose to start with the 901 specifically because of the longer time between charges - I've heard many people say they only get 1 to 2 hours from a 510 battery.

Your mom said not to say...
I will go ahead and break the trend here and actually answer the question posed instead of telling you to just get a mod or whatever and stick with the 510. You asked for OTHER MODELS that might be more to your liking if I read it right. Mods are fine if that's what your looking for I would imagine you have read enough and been around enough to know about them.

I find that my m401 battery last quite a few hours, the taste is superior to the 510 and the throat hit is just fine. I was able to quit smoking using my Dragon as my primary smoke. I didn't get the 510 until 2-3 weeks into it. The 510 has a heavy hit for sure but the m401 is not exactly like sucking a straw either with a healthy throat hit of it's own. The carts don't hold as much juice so that can be a pain, other than that it's a fine model. The biggest advantage to me the m401 has over the 510 is that the battery last 3-4 times as long. The taste is the next biggest thing, the m401 is smoother on the throat and mouth.

I wish I could tell you more models but other than the KR808D-1 and those two models mentioned above are the only ones I have actually used. The people telling you to get a mod are not wrong either in that regard, if it's just the battery life that is the issue you can get a quick little box mod or magnum mod that will allow for all day vaping without changing out your equipment. I have not tried the Mega batteries that TW has for the 510, a couple of other sites have the bigger batteries for it as well that boost the life between charges closer to that of the m401 but at the cost of an even bigger unit. Don't know what criteria is very important to you though.

Might want to give the Vapor King / KR808-D1 a shot, I use both now. The VK for out and about, the 510 for weekends and dripping. Thread on it here:

And many others on the board.
