I was recently given an Ego-One from my sister, she felt guilty as she got me started smoking 30 years ago, anyways after a couple weeks of using it I decided to upgrade my setup.
So I purchased an IPV3 Li, a Kanger Subtank plus, and various items to try my hand at building my own coils.
within the last couple days I have tried various coil designs and setups, my first setup was a vertical dual coil (kanthal) .5 ohms, ran into wicking issues early on but found if you pack the organic cotton very tight in the coils, and loosely outside of the coils it wicks well.
my second build was a single coil using 30g Ni200 wire (3mm windings), it came in at .3 ohms and I ran it at 20 Joules, with a temp around 350f. no wicking issues
My latest build is a Horizontal Dual Coil using Ni200 30g wire (2.5mm windings), .1 ohms and running it at 18 Joules and temp of 350f. no wicking issues
The only issue I have is the flavor tastes muted compared to the Ego-One (running same juice), does anyone know of a good build that will maximize the flavor output while maintaining a cool/warm vape?

IMO and others, for great flavor, you might consider a Magma RDA coil 1.4 to 1.8 ohm range around 15 watts/28ga, kanthal. Coil would have small spacing in between turns. I have been using this set up and have found no problems.
This type of build will not give you massive sub ohm clouds but decent cloud production.
I have heard it's harder to achieve great taste with sub ohm builds.

Appreciate the feedback, Thanks, I am still running the Dual Horizontal build, and noticed either I have become accustomed to it's flavor or the flavor has improved after a day of use on the coils, granted the E-go One still has many more subtle nuances to it's flavor (currently using a custom blend of 2/3 Turkish Tobacco, and 1/3 Carolina Cinnamon, Max VG from V-Shine) kinda tastes like a buttery caramel mixed with Redhots candy, maybe I will try and up the PG content or ask for a double shot of flavoring, still new to vaping so I have much experimentation to do, I did try and up the Joules to 40 and the temp to 425 and noticed anytime I go above 30 Joules I get an awful burnt taste, so I think the temperature may be ramping up too fast, or it's an issue with my coils, I am using 2 separate coils with 10 wraps each, it's a bit of a juice hog though.
