I have been building coils for a couple of years now, mainly from 1.5-2.5 ohms and would like to try sub ohming. I have an ehuge ( authentic)that goes from 7-35 watts and has an ohmage range of 0.5-5.0 ohms. I'm using a ehpro big Buddha tank and an imr 26650 efest with a discharge current of 32/64A.
I was thinking of getting a 26650 sized RDA and building to 0.6-0.8 ohms. I'd like to see some clouds and have some flavour. I guess I just want it all! What would you guys recommend? For around £20 ($40) budget please. Please realise my newbieishness in the sub ohm vaping circle and try not to give me too much of a row. BTW I have the vapours toolbox app which keeps me safe and the e huge is regulated.
Thanx guys

i have good news for you. with variable wattage, you can get killer performance with a high ohm build that mechs could never fire efficiently.

what gauge wire are you using? basically what i am saying is that with regulated wattage, subohm will not be necessary to increase vapor production.

with vw, you can do bigger higher ohm coils and put some big voltage on them and you will be surprised at how they can perform compared to the whole subohm thing.

Thanx Zach.
You've certainly put me in the right direction.
I've been using 32 awg (0.2 mm) round wire lately round a 3mm screw driver which has been giving me between 1.5-1.7 ohms on a duel coil which has been giving me some great clouds and flavour. Which coil wrap would give me the greatest surface area? I've tried 0.8 mm flat wire but I've also been toying with the idea of using some of the more exotic wrapping techniques as seen on rip trippers youtube channel.
I've also widened my big Buddha tanks air flow holes to 2.5 mm and 3.0mm for the insulator which has greatly improved the vape and is capable now of some 10 sec lung hits.
I thought ( like most) that the next step for greater clouds would be lowering resistance and the mod is capable of going down to 0.5 ohms but now I've seen the light I'll concentrate more on surface area, wicking and airflow. It seems I've been going down the right track with my builds without realising it!
Thanx again Zach. You're a legend

The idea behind the low resistance on a regulated is using bigger wire. They resistance is a result of the wire being used not the desired target.

A good example is on these 50w+ box mods you can use say 10 wraps of 24 g. In each coil for much more surface area, it just happens to end up at .3 as a result. This amount of wire is something a mech could never drive, especially in dual coils.

With that being said, with a properly tuned setup a mech can hold its own quite well.

Depending on the device you have to know your build, not every coil can work in every device but they can all be setup to preform well.
