...well I got my box of sample flavors and to say the least, we were suitably unimpressed...being green as granny smith, I don't know WTF and am seeking advice from my friends here before I contact the vendor....

Along with our Rivas, we have been using LR Boge 2.0s and EMDCC's for vaping...to sample the new stuff, we dripped...basically for the first time, although we had tried it with our original juice and found it a satisfactory way to vape.........

The only juice we have used is the USA Blend and Clove(black) from LF...it is 100% PG @ 14mg/nic...we are very satisfied with it but a little bored, so we orderd 10, 10ml samples in a wide assortment of flavors, some fruit, some bakery, some drinks, etc...I ordered it as 80/20 PG/VG @ 15/mg/nic with an extra 5% flavor shot(15% flavor total)...we really didn't care for any of it except the Pina Colada...all of it seemed weak on the vapor and the flavor seemed just flat, not a lot TH either...so, here are some questions..........

1) could the weakness of the flavor be because the juice is very fresh and in need of steeping...I took all 10 bottle, removed the caps and drippers and placed them in a drawer by my bed...the smell is almost overpowering coming from that drawer...
2) the taste also had a "vegetable oil" flavor to it...could this be from the VG(our first experience with VG)...
3) could all of the above be because of dripping(essentially for the first time) with the stock atty's that came with our Rivas compared to the LR Boges and EMDCCs we have been using...

...any words of advice, hints or tips will certainly be appreciated..................

p.s. mods, if this post would/should be elsewhere, please move it there............mj

Did you get the primer off the attys? That stuff smells and tastes horrible - machine oil I think.

VG may have a slight oily feel. But it helps prevent irritation and adds more vapor. But if you really want the most TH possible from a nicotine level, go straight PG next time.

Some vendors make highly flavored juices and some make delicately flavored ones, and some have a variety. Even with the Chinese juices, the RY4 seems delicate to me and the blackberry was much to strong.

Juices are a bit of a crapshoot and that is why you buy small bottles to try. The idea in your mind of what it will taste like rarely matches reality.

You could also experiment with making your own. Both OneStopDIYShop and DIYFlavorSHack have kits. You could also just get more flavoring and up the flavoring in the ones you got (Perfumer's Apprentice site describes each flavoring well including which are no for vaping and is reasonably priced with reasonable shipping).

 it's really hard to say for sure, not knowing what and who you ordered from, let them all sit for 2 weeks, and try them again. :) sometimes that makes all the difference in the world. also if you have just recently quit smoking, may take your taste buds a minute to "wake up".

or maybe you need to try another vendor :(

oh and the pg/vg ratio should be good, and it shouldn't taste like vegetable oil YUCK

...my main concern was the vegetable oil taste and the weakness of the flavors...all of which I had ordered with extra flavor...we had apple, orange and pina colada which were not bad...the irish creme, key lime pie and butterscotch were OK as well(other than the vegetable oils and weak tasting)...the Morley tobacco tasted like sawdust, the clove tobacco was just plain weak...wife liked the hypermint(I didn't) and the rootbeer float was just plain nasty and the only one we just didn't like...we certainly didn't expect to hit 100% but with the 20%VG, we expected better vapor and veggie oil taste of all of them was just a turnoff...........

p.s. I didn't name the vendor in this thread since if this was our fault, I didn't wanna give anyone a black eye...they are not a sponsor or forum supplier here but had been recommended by others..........mj

p.s.s. may just load up a Boge or two and see if that makes a diff..................mj

Don't worry about naming the vendor. It won't get you into trouble. Some others may have similar experiences with that vendor ya never know... If you don't provide specifics we really can't help you there.

As far as the juices themselves... like Dormouse said... it's a crapshoot... never rely on someone else's opinion... juices that are raved about by some are disliked by others. You could give the same 3 juices to 10 different people and get 30 different opinions. The only one that matters is yours.

I've never had a vegetable oil taste from any juice, but i'm on the new side. From what I can read about steeping, there's a few different schools of thought. Ranging from just leave it capped and put it away for whatever time, to steeping with the cap off, to steeping for 24 hrs with the cap off then a few weeks with the cap on. I worry about totally leaving it with the cap off myself... I can't help but think there's got to be something that will oxidize and degrade the flavor. I'm in favor of steeping with the cap on.

If the flavor doesn't improve in a week or two, you probably just have juice that doesn't suite your taste.

You haven't been vaping long (24/08/11 according to your sig) I wonder if you were a reasonably heavy smoker before you decided to take up vaping? It's quite likely your taste buds are still recovering from years of toxins and other nasties from the analogues.

Some juices are very sutble to be fair, others are far to strong. It's a bit of a lottery and as always with all things taste a bit of A lottery as everyone's taste is subjective. I'd say give it a bit more time, vape the stronger stuff now, whilst your taste buds recover and start to redevelop a sensitivity to more sutble and complex flavours. This could take a month or two just a heads up.

You shouldn't need to steep liberty flights stuff for that long, I'm pretty sure it's not freshly batched there and likely a Chinese mix in orgin. Some of their juices are decent though none I'd say ever set my world on fire to be honest. A decent and inexpensive vendor, good for hardware and just relaible if unspectacular for juices would be my fair experiences with LF.

I was never a fan of dripping until I tried with a 5 volt device. I do not like dripping with lower voltage devices. Unless I have a really thick juice, I use cartomizers. That being said, I have also purchased a number of bottles of juice that did nothing for me (even though I read other vapers positive reviews of them). I've been through a lot of trial and error concerning juices AND equipment. I think some of that is to be expected. You are definitely doing the right thing by seeking advice around here. It will help you avoid a lot of mistakes/misinformation.

It's all worth it once you find that vape you love.

The atties that come with the rivas SUCK. I thought I hated dripping until I got cisco atties. Now I can see why it's so popular. Also I recommend going to a dedicated juice vendor (hardware vendors usually don't have great juice). I recommend pinkspotvapors for non-menthol and rawrvapor for menthol.

...the vendor is a dedicated "juicer" and DIY supplier...they sell no vaping hardware....................:2cool:

LF=Liberty Flights and is who we got our original juice from, along with our hardware...the juice in question came from another vendor, who is exclusively a juice and DIY supplier...they "roll" their own juice and sell no hardware.........

p.s. I did shake up the bottles before usage..............mj

Then my Sherlock homes style sleuthing in this thread will have to continue unabated! ;)

...an update...after reading the replies here...and smelling the intense aromas coming from the drawer where I had the juice sitting...topless...and a bunch of head scratching between my wife and I(I'll scratch yours if, you scratch mine), we pulled all the juice and capped it...then proceeded to load up some Boge 2.0s with some Pina Colada and some Key Lime Pie...OMG, major mondo difference...I think we will try more flavors latter but right now, these juices from Blue Mist Vaping are rocking out(so ends the sleuthing by the zombie)........
madjack:2cool:
p.s. I am now wondering if, that vegetable oil taste was, some residual primer fluid we were tasting(with newly awakened taste buds).............mj

Glad to hear you are now loving your purchase. You are most likely correct in the residual primer assumption. Typically either straight apg or vg are used as primers and simply blowing out the excess does not completely remove the primer. If you want to avoid the oil taste in the future...after blowing out a new atty drip 3 or 4 drops of your juice onto the atty and vape it without inhaling. Pull it into your mouth with short quick pulls and then exhale it quickly. You will still taste it a little but not too bad. The other option is to soak them vodka or grain alcohol to remove the primer, dry them and then re-prime with your juice.
