For reference, classic steeping doesn't need the caps off. Just set the liquid aside for a week or two, give it a shake; it can make a difference in more complex multi-flavor mixes. The caps off is mainly to evap a bit of alcohol/perfumey scent.

its always a general rule to never judge a juice until letting it sit for a few weeks.

ive tried many vendors where people have claimed "it tastes good right out of the box!" thinking "yuck" to myself.. then i revisit it after a couple weeks (shaking the bottle once in a while) finding it to taste completely different
