REOville, good day!

Just curious about this....

Has anyone ever wrapped a coil on the RM2 and had it sit way above the screws but with long enough wick tails that they lay in the ceramic cup? Not so high that the coil touches anything. I would think the throat hit would be nuts.

Anyone ever position a coil like this?

Thanks, all.

Reminds me of the coils that were made in the A7's. They set high.

I get mine as low as I can usually. I don't like them very high up from the ceramic.

I hav experimented with all sorts of coil heights and tail lengths on the RM2. A high coil produces too much throat hit for me, and the long tails don't wick very well, which is counter-intuitive, but that is how it works in real life.

I prefer my coil just off the deck and the cotton wick rolled tightly and with really short tails. It gives me the best combo of TH, flavor, and vapor production.

I think i have rebuilt the Rm2 3 -4 times a day since I got It 3 weeks ago, just to experiment, and cause I am crazy....I tried something similar but always go back to a standard micro coil just off the deck right in front of the air hole, minimal cotton. Sometimes the easiest build is the best I guess cause nothing with the exception of a modified chimney coil compares. Even the chimney coil is not as good cause it needs to be squanked more often. Adjustable airflow will be a game changer though...
