I'm sure most have had them.

I discharged 1 of my 2 Janty Stick (my only VP), batteries and have been meaning to recharge it, but somehow never got around to it, after all, who thinks about spare batteries when you have the USB charge-n-vape facility. I was gardening today, using an electric leaf blower, so was running the Stick on battery when the red light started flashing. No problem, go inside, connect to the charger, have a good vape and go back to the blow job outside, a short vaping break won't hurt.

I crank up the blower and after about 5 minutes, the sound of an electric motor whining to a halt. Check the plugs and cable, fine, pull the trigger, nothing. Look through the lounge window, wifey is staring at a blank TV and I get this sinking feeling........ power outage! 8-o

Maybe I should worry about the washing machine that stopped with a load of washing inside, the stuff in the fridge and freezer warming up, no TV for wifey........ but no, my head is filled with doomsday thoughts about my dead Janty Stick and the fatal attraction of the pack of analogs packed away in deep storage for the last 16 terrible but triumphant days.

The 5 minute charge got me only a few rationed vapes, dripped for max effect, then death. Put the spare battery in and it had recovered a little, a few more desperately rationed vapes, then death. one hour passes, I call the power company to hear "they're working on a cable, don't know how long it will take". Then another hour, I'm climbing the walls. Just when my resolve is about to collapse in a heap, I hear a far off beep from the microwave........... salvation, power is restored! :w00t:

Both batteries are now fully charged!!

HaHaHa...great story.

Reminds me of analogue days and the time I reached into my 'perpetual' travel pouch at about four hours into a sixteen hour flight and realized that I had forgot to replenish the nic gum I always carried.

Ever 'hawk-eye' every passenger on the plane trying to figure out which are the smokers and who might have a 'fix' piece of gum or something for you? Every time anyone raised anything to their mouths, 'radar-man' was checking it out to see if I could possibly espy a nic gum bumming prospect.

You'll never guess but it was the stewardess who saved me. I finally resorted to asking her if she had any inkling as to possible smokers on the 'plane' and guess what, she was and she had nic gum. I would have paid or done ANYTHING for those couple of pieces of gum.

Anyway, I'm guessing that your batts will hit the charger immediately from now on and that there's probably some supplier out there who's just received an order for a couple of more 'spares.' Maybe even looking into an emergency generator???

All the best.

I normally will go through maybe 2 sets of batteries in my xhaler, but I carry 4 fully charged sets always -- just in case. I normally have enough supplies to last me two maybe three days. You never know when you'll get lost in a forest for three days, plus I live in south Louisiana we are told to always have enough supplies for at least three days just in case of a hurricane.

A power outage !? I never fear... with a 510 pass-through and a DigiPower USB battery pack that lets me vapor up to 18 hours no-stop... anywhere, anytime. Thank goodness for USB and all the accessories !

I remember driving in the middle of the night to another town just to get a pack of cigarettes because all the stores were closed in our little town that time in the morning. I guess during an AC power outage, if I didn't have my USB power pack and pass-through, I would possibly honestly consider finding someone who does have power and visiting... lol... at 3:00 in the morning? Sure, why not.

For less than $50 at Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, Pep Boys, or a truck stop, pick up a small DC to AC adapter. Power goes out, take charger out to the car, plug it in, and you're back in business. Unless... like my car, the cigarette lighter is not powered when the key is not on. With any luck at all, though, you'll be driving something newer with an always-on power port.

I rarely use my PCC, but It's always fully charged with a full spare in it. I also have all the holes filled. Carts and atty. Now if need be I can form a new 510 in a pinch, like if i want to let someone try it or to give a friends/family demo. I think the PCC is worth it's price just for the peace of mind.

Just another idea for everyone - get the car usb adapter - get a car battery jumpstart box (some have built in usb now). Everyone should have a jumpstart box in their car anyway. You can take it anywhere with you - living room, camping etc. Then you can always run a passthrough or charger. Make sure the one you get has the cig lighter plug on it and you're set. If you want to get fancy you can get one with the 110v outlet on it with the built in inverter, but those inverters suck up power to give you that 110v outlet. Better to just use the 12v cig jack. They may be bulky, but you can run a PT for a LOOONG time on one of those! Or charge a lot of batteries besides giving your car a jump!

Oooooo! That's a great idea! The power nightmare just left me in a panic. Do I have enough batteries?! Not that I'm likely to ride through another Hurricane Andrew living up here now, but I can't imagine being without my vapor.

An apple AC to USB charging adapter works fine for USB devices. I have a Car 12v to 110v adapter too. ("WAS" for a lappy, now for long trips to avoid batt usage.)

I have 6 batts and only one is ever without a charge.

I have a laptop that is ALWAYS CHARGING, so that might come in handy.
Maybe I'll plug one of those P3 lappys that are unused in the garage for
spare USB power in case of emergency. Hmmmmm.

Never would have thought of that though... I'd probably just add nic to a soda/beer/PGA and OJ. I vape about 1-4mg juice right now, so I'd be OK drinking a bit, since I lick the juice off my fingers like steak-juice.

I have a hd projector worth about $2,000. It has a lamp that needs to cool during shutdown slowly. A power surge can cause the lamp to explode and ruin the entire thing. A wise investment was a battery backup/surge protector (bought at costco for $99) Sure a large investment for an e-cig, but it also helps protect computer data and expensive electronics as well. So I know if the power goes out I can still charge my batts and play my ps3 for about 2-4 hours. It also has a nifty indicator, so if it gets to about 10%, it's time to break out the candles and deck of cards to conserve precious juice for my PV.

Of course a PCC would have worked wonders for this scenerio.

They should make emergency chargers like they have for cell phones. That hold 2 AA's and charge a cell phone for about 30 mins of use in a pinch. Would work great for charging on the go for models that don't have PCC easily available.

A wise investment for anyone thinking of possible vaping related power outages... is to keep a couple of solar powered USB power packs around your house .$40 can get you a 3 watt panel with a 2400mAH battery. Full charge in a couple of hours, and can be had in up to 1000mA max current varieties. Plenty of power for almost anything e-cig related you could imagine.

2 or 3 of those, and you could vape yourself silly all day, miles and miles away from any source of electricity.
