After using both for a few months each, i can say that the svd is better in almost every way.

Build quality:
The default vamo is made from chrome plated copper while SVD is made from SS.
The vamos plating is of VERY poor quality and tends to wear off after quite a a short time, which will result in green hands and everything you touch taste like metal its also full of scratches.
There was no change with the SVD besides the battery cap which is made of copper (what a shame).

Functionality:
Vamo is horisontal while SVD is vertical.
Vamo keys tent to get pressed by mistake while the svd keys are sturdier.
There is also a feature to lock only the V/W keys to prevent misclicks in the SVD.
The svd is comfertible with all batteries, while the vamo is annoying with 18350 battery (you need to press the fire button with your middle finger).
The SVD is truely telescopic while the vamo has 2 settings and if you remove a part you have to carry it with you.
SVD can use 18500 batteries (and basically any 18) while vamo can't.
Because of the vamos strange 510 base some cartos only connect with the 510 screw and not the base itself, this means that if the carto gets hit from the side when the mod drops or if you sit on it, it could pull the 510 screw from it's socket.

Looks:
Vamo looks plain while SVD looks fancy and unique (it does have a name which sounds like STD though).

I kinda think your comparing apples to oranges. The vamo v3/v5 is a closer comparison to the SVD. As you stated the issue with the v2/v4 is some of the tanks don't fit. The v3/v5 has a removable top ring like the SVD.

Vamo v3/v5 is offered in stainless steel. Chrome sucks. Vamo v2 aluminum are ok.

I agree it sucks carrying an extra piece of tube for the vamo, but I think it's kind of a mute point. Most folks that run 18650s carry spare 18650s and the same for 18350s.

The lock function on the SVD is a nice feature, and it does look cool.

The other thing you touched on is the tanks popping out of the 510 connection. I think this is more due to the brass 510 connection in the vamo. The brass is more conductive but it is softer, which means you could ruin your threads. I use an airflow controller to protect threads and because oh helps with Protank type tanks with an airy draw.

Vamo v4/v4/v5 has a nicer screen.

SVD has odd raised screen cover.

Vamo has slightly slimmer profile than SVD.

SVD bottom cap doesn't match the rest of the unit. Plated brass is more conductive than steel...

I think both have their pros and cons. An SVD with the screen of vamo would be awesome.

Just my $0.02
