This kayfun is absolutely wonderful, now I see why no one uses gennies anymore. I finally found my sweet spot for the kayfun mimicking a video on the vaperev site called something like vaperev edu where they do weekly instructional videos about random things. Before watching this I was enjoying my kayfun but got an occasional gurgle and also wasnt too thrilled about the heat up time the coils I was making took. In this vid the guy makes a coil on a huge drillbit, way bigger than Id have ever thought to try and also uses a pretty thick amount of cotton. Let me just say this build is absolutely perfect, big dense vp, solid TH and of course incredible flavor. Not sure if I can link vids so Im not gonna but it wont be hard to find. So if anyone just got their kayfun type atty or arent happy with their current builds I highly recommend you check it out. Super easy to do and makes proper wicking completely fool proof. Let me know what you think.

I'm quickly starting to agree. For me it's either the infamous Fogger series for their glass tanks or now my R91 clone for solid performance besides some user-error setting up SS mesh and coils. I like the set it and forget it formula, and #1 flaw has been occasional leaks when filling (the Fogger) that Russians and Kayfuns completely remedy.

Thats actually pretty cool, never even though to try that. I actually never used mesh with anything. I have some because when I first realized I wasnt gonna smoke again I knew I'd be vaping for at least several years so I decided I wanted to try everything I could to see what I like. Bought all super cheap clone forms of most device types, gennie included. Well needless to say that hasnt gotton much use, I wrapped 1 build and used a cotton upside down U wick. But Ive heard ss mesh has a crisp distinct taste I just dont know how to make it safe to the point where im comfortable with it. I have a torch but theres a few different ways Ive seen to prepare it and I dont know what to pick.

Beauty is that it itself has NO taste, nor does it retain juice taste once it gets vaped off of it. So you don't need to clean it really, and you can go from flavor to another flavor easily without much if any old taste once its gone.

I also got my Kayfun from Vaperev. After watching riptripper a few times I got around to building mine and I'm in love! I am using my MVP2 and wanted to keep my ohms around 1.4 or so, and used a 12/13 wrap of 28g kanthal around a 1.4mm mini screwdriver and organic cotton wick laid on the deck as tripper showed. It came out exactly 1.4ohms and it hits like nothing I ever had before! I want more of them, but can't afford another Svoemesto, so I'll get some clones. What an amazing atty!

Josh,
Did use use 28 gauge wire and wrap 7/8 times as vaperev did? If so, what was the resistance?
Thanks,
Rich

I did and it shows 1.5 on vamo, 1.38 on meter
Joshleeman.... Took a quick look for the vid you referred to, but there are hundreds of them and could not decide which one specifically you meant.... Would you mind posting a link to the video? TIA

I'll PM it to you now. For anyone else looking for it, it's this weeks Vaperev EDU video title "Maintaining your Kayfun" for the week of 3-26-14

Curious to know if the clones are stainless steel and made close to the standards of a Svoemesto.

Whatever mine is, is no polished brass for sure. Threads are butter-smooth and other than usual AFC whistle it was quite perfect. All seals nice and firm. Chimney top ring NEVER got out of the top cap and it's not embedded into an inner grove either.

I'm sure it will vary on who makes it but I got a Russian 91% which was 40 bucks new on ebay and when soaked in soapy water overnight, the only thing that showed rust was the 2 coil screws. I heard thats how you tell if, and what quality the metal is.

I don't know. But I have 3 KF clones at this point, another in transit. 2 of which are KF 3.1ES clones and one is a Russian clone. Everything fits everything. I have a nano kit, of unknown manufacture, an M tank kit, a clear body kit... all of these came from different places - they all work. And all the parts have been interchangeable.

I still haven't spent the cost of a single 1 (real) one on four clones and misc bits and add ons.

Did I mention they work?

link please!!! im rocking a micro at 1.3 and not too happy

I run all mine with a 1.1-1.3ohm micro coil, and a pinch of cotton.
They all vape great.

What's the problem?

Too hot? Flavor? Vapor prod?

I run mine around 1.1 and hers @ 1.3 since she's on lighter fruit flavors. She also doesn't like a real hot vape. And I vape a cold menthol and it never really gets warm anyway.
