I run all mine with a 1.1-1.3ohm micro coil, and a pinch of cotton.
They all vape great.

What's the problem?

Too hot? Flavor? Vapor prod?

I run mine around 1.1 and hers @ 1.3 since she's on lighter fruit flavors. She also doesn't like a real hot vape. And I vape a cold menthol and it never really gets warm anyway.

it's a great vape but flavor lacks and I do get some gurgle. maybe im spoiled with my dripper.

pwheeler... there are some very nice clones out there that work just as well as the original. I'm sure you will be just as happy. Just picked up a couple myself and I'm amazed at the quality and how interchangeable the parts are.

I have been scouting those out. I can get 3 clones for the price of one of the originals.

Yep..... so many sites that supposedly sell brand name stuff are always out or if they get stock, it lasts for 15 minutes. It is a wacky business with people willing to pay lots of money for the privilege of waiting and "bragging rights"..lol I know it's a personal decision and I have no problem with any of what goes on, but I want to try the goods now....lol. I'll settle for a clone if I can at least get to try a device. Then decide whether to get in line and wait for the brand name items.

So yeah. It's a convenience / capacity thing.

The utility of the KF is it's strong point. Many people have pushed them pretty far seeking the best flavor they can get out of them, but IMO - why make it more complicated. Build a simple repeatable coil that lasts and gives good results all the time. And just run it.

The chamber which consolidates the vapor and let's you get the most out of it - eventually hits a limit where heat build up turns everything into a nasty hot vape. I can't do anything under 1 ohm in a KF or I just don't like it. It's too hot.

I rarely get any gurgling or weird problems with the KF and less than anything else I've used so - again. The utility of it - being the all day every day beater atty that works ALL the time - is it's role for me.

KF eliminates the need to go sub-ohm to still get plenty of taste. Thus you don't really need a mod to enjoy one quite fully. Makes using it more simple. So IMO the design itself is pretty ingenious when you really think about it.

This kayfun is absolutely wonderful, now I see why no one uses gennies anymore. I finally found my sweet spot for the kayfun mimicking a video on the vaperev site called something like vaperev edu where they do weekly instructional videos about random things. Before watching this I was enjoying my kayfun but got an occasional gurgle and also wasnt too thrilled about the heat up time the coils I was making took. In this vid the guy makes a coil on a huge drillbit, way bigger than Id have ever thought to try and also uses a pretty thick amount of cotton. Let me just say this build is absolutely perfect, big dense vp, solid TH and of course incredible flavor. Not sure if I can link vids so Im not gonna but it wont be hard to find. So if anyone just got their kayfun type atty or arent happy with their current builds I highly recommend you check it out. Super easy to do and makes proper wicking completely fool proof. Let me know what you think.

Also, he is about to release 4th version of Kayfun with all the 2014 improvements like pyrex glass, ring controlled air intake, and so on.

I've had better luck with a 2mm drill bit and 30g wire. Heats fast. It's around 1.7ohm and 9watts. Simply wonderful. btw, I fell asleep about halfway through that video. BORRRRIIINNNNGGGG.

Yeah I certainly wasnt claiming the video was an action packed blockbuster film. Like I said, the recommendation was aimed at folks like myself who werent 110% satisfied with their kayfun style atty builds, and since it made my experience so incredibly good with such ease I had to share it. And hopefully someone else was able to improve their vaping experience by trying this, who might not have stumbled on that video like I did. Good luck to everyone!!!

Fixed top chimney? That was never a part of the design of any of these, was it? IMO 2-piece is good for final tests of your setup, when the main chamber is on and whatever may be touching it during use is.
Screw in chimney to the top to hold pyrex glass side section should be in the new design. Also, tomb crews to screw coil with out a screwdriver, all and all better look, titanium versions with bronz and copper inlays, adjustable air control ring, adjustable or spring bottom contact, and so on. I guess that would be too good to be true then.

Ohh... almost forgot. I also want to see a new cool logo on the Kayfun.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.
However, I have to disagree about no one using genesis. When you show me a kayfun that can run quads and chain vape at .2ohm I'll consider your point valid. IMO nothing beats a well set up cotton wick genny

LOL yeah that was a sort of fanboyish thing to say, I'm far too new to vaping to know what "everyone" or "no one" is using. I guaged it off comparing the first several pages of the "post pics of what your currently using" thread to the last, most current several pages. Whats so great about this hobby is that preference is so relative and there will never be a time where "everyone" uses the same thing. I've never experienced quad qoils or .2 ohm vaping together or individually, at this point its just not necessary but who know, a year from now that might be by new fav. And btw chain vaping quads at .2 ohm's? I thought I had a serious nicotine tolerance.

I've got an HC 3.1 clone, which is suppose to be particularly good. Though the vape is pretty much impossible to tell apart from my KFL+, the build quality is not the same. I'm seeing what looks like rust on the clone's screws (+/- terminals), and the deck threading is tarnishing (where the chimney screws on).

FWIW, the SM plastic tank seems a little more flimsy, it cracked in a couple hours (MVB Thug Juice). The clone's plastic tank has held up better.

I don't agree with the OP's statement about no one using gennies anymore due to the KF. I think that's like saying chocolate has made made vanilla obsolete; each flavor has fans, and it just comes down to personal taste.

Curious to know if the clones are stainless steel and made close to the standards of a Svoemesto.

Again as the post above clearly states it was a general, off the cuff, statement from observations I saw on here. I wasnt trying to start a kayfun vs genny war on an internet forum. I didnt say I knew that was the case, nor do I care. Just a light hearted statement said in my happiness of finally finding something that works for me.

Isn't it safe to say that each device has it's weak and strong points for every individual user? That is sort of a blanket statement to keep everyone happy.....lol. I've been finding recently for example that I enjoy my genny for custard juices and I'm glad I did not just give them up when I found the Kayfun type RTA's.
