Swallowing E-Liquid

It takes about 40-60 Mg of nicotine to kill. Around 5 Mg can be considered nicotine poisoning. When I started receiving eliquid, I sat down with the family and warned them of the dangers. I would suggest anyone with kids lock this stuff up. As horrible as it would be for a kid to get sick, it would prompt action to ban this stuff.

Soup!! I did'nt think of that. Thank's malyden. :p

Seriously though. I now realise that i have enough Liquid in my Fridge to kill about 20 Adults. I hav'nt replied to anyone yet because i just thought i would ask the Question and let people think for themselves about the consequences of someone who did'nt know it was poison drinking it.
The only bottle's that have a Skull & Crossbones on them is the Wicked.
I live alone so i don't really worry about it but i do sometimes have visitors who bring their children and the kid's always want a drink of something and believe me, kid's get everywhere fast when your not watching.

@ Frankie.. If i want to kill myself i don't have to take any poison or pills.
I just need to Stop taking the pills i'm prescribed. :)
I'm glad you clarified that deewal. I was looking behind your question and really started worrying about you. I hope you're ok. You got friends here.

My husband always keeps a bottle of liquid with him, I always make sure that when the kids are out of bed and he has it sitting beside him that he keeps it in a child proof bottle. The little 10 mL bottles fit perfectly inside of an old benadryl container. I know that he watches the stuff, but if he turns his head and a child grabs it, before we knew it it would be too late. It frustrates him, but it is necessary. Even if the bottle was childproof I still would make him put it in a childproof bottle. It's just too dangerous. There are enough dangers in a common household, no need to add another! I'm glad I read this thread though, I never knew what a lethal dose was, I was lulled into a sense of security knowing that I haven't died from a leaky cartridge. Now I know that 1/5 of a bottle at my preferred strength could kill me...I feel better knowing the dangers

Is nicotine more dangerous than stuff that is in cosmetics? Wouldn't drinking nail polish or paint be as dangerous as nicotine?

I am curious if the postal service will insist that some type of hazardous material shipping protocol will have to be used to mail eliquid. I am not even sure if the postal service allows such shipments to individuals.

Actually long before I knew that you could get liquid nicotine I have scared people with my knowledge as to how to kill people with the stuff. Digestive tract is one, but it is noticeable that way seeing as it tastes awful. Generally best is to get it in the bloodstream. With that it can kill rather quickly. The higher the concentration the quicker the death.

Since some of us have already gone through "getting a taste of liquid" through our trial and error with e-cigs. I just find it hard to even see someone trying to chug it down. Of course it must be kept out of reach of children and of course it must be stored away properly but it's really no different than a bottle of asprin which can kill you as well (I won't use the analogy with nail polish and such because if you even brought it up to your lips it would burn you).

So in essense you would keep asprin and eliquid out of reach. If by some chance someone did spill a bottle of eliquid on themselves I don't think it would do much. Only pure nicotine would do that. It will most likely not even get absorbed into the skin as quicky as pure nicotine would. By the time you would rush to wash it off I doubt if much would even be absored into your skin.

I've spilled it all over my hands before. So I got up and washed my hands. Even kinda took my time doing it... just made sure not to rub my eyes.

We have tons of toxins under our kitchen sinks. While I agree that nic juices should bear warning labels, I think any knee-jerk reactions to toxicity levels of nic juice are exactly that. We deal with toxic substances every day... to vilify e-liquid is simply doing ourselves a bad favor.

When I first started, I was worried about nicotine poisoning. One night, I had dripped on an atomizer and was laying back in my recliner when I took a drag, the battery died and I sucked a bunch of 36mg liquid to the back of my throat and well, other than the nasty sour taste, it didn't seem to have an effect on me. I swallowed it by accident and was was worried a little bit but not enough to call poison control. I just chugged my beer down and hoped it'd dilute it enough. Now, I'm not so paranoid.

I'm more concerned about my toddler ODing on toothpaste. It's terrible I tell you. Sold OTC with no age restrictions. No childproofing. Marketed to children by their favorite cartoon characters in lots of flavors like bubblegum and grape.

All my e-juice is locked away except for two 3ml drippers kept out for the day. Either in my cig case or a small proscription bottle with their respective atomizers. I don't leave them laying around in easy reach anymore than I would a pack of analogs or cigarette lighter.

Our homes are riddled with deadly substances.

HAhaha! Isnt that the truth! Back in the early 1980's I ate a tube of bubblegum toothpaste... Boy, did that induce vomiting!
Oh we have so many dangerous things in our homes, but everyone freaks out about the firearms and cigarettes. Just keep the important stuff out of the reach of kids and everything else will come out in the wash :D

You would ingest 360 mg of nicotine. Lethal dose for adults is 40-60 mg. Swallowing all of 20 ml of the liquid is simply overkill.

Ok, so if you are using 36mg juice and you inhale too hard and get more than 1ml on your tounge, you are in danger of dying? With all the people using 36mg juice it seems like we would be dropping like flies...?.?.?.? Can this be right?

There are 20 drops to one ml. So, it would take quite a bit to get more than one ml in your mouth on an inhale from an ecig.

That being said, the stronger liquid can be dangerous. I tried some 48mg liquid and with a couple of light vapes my heart was racing and head was pounding.
