I have never tried stevia, but have been using EZ-SWEETZ which is highly concentrated liquid sucralose in filtered water for over 6 months now in all my e-liquid with no problems.

It's good to know, I've ordered some splendex liquid which appears to be the same thing.

Any long term stevia users notice any buildup?

NEWSFLASH RE: SUCRALOSE!

My skin has been real itchy for about a year and a half. My skin would get pink and then red just from touching something, sort of like people that have a reaction to cardboard-but this was with anything that my skin came in contact with. I thought that it had to do with some medical treatment I went through about 2 years ago. The only way that I was finding relief was by taking Chlorpheniramine Maleate once a day or every couple days only when it acted up.

It is possible that all along it was because I was using splenda in my morning cup of tea!!!!!!! (And occasional Splenda sodas here and there)

I have now gone back to regular sugar. This is day one.

I don't know if this is the root, and if it is, if it even pertains to vaping at all because of as different delivery system, but nonetheless I will update when I see if there is any change whatsoever.

BTW, I had this itch problem before I began vaping...

Would you please post what you think of it after you've "played" with it?
And how you mixed it?

I'm still searching for a measuring spoon smaller than 1/8 tsp. I know they make them but can't find them locally.

It's important to me to know exactly how much I used so I can replicate the receipe over and over. (that's a lesson I already learned...)

Have you looked for a conversion chart on the net for ts to ml that might make it a bit easer then you could make a pg type syrup and jut add by the drop idk if this would work for you but it is what I plan to do. I mix alot of juice in small amounts, I like to change things up quite often, but anyway make like a 30ml bottle of pg with 1/8 ts of sucrolose and count drops to taste just a shot in the dark....

Yes, this sounds like a common allergic reaction that some people have to Splenda (sucralose). Full list of adverse reactions include: abdominal pain, rashes, skin flushing, ........, headaches, dizziness, and muscle aches.

I've had problems with sucralose as well, but hopefully won't with the amounts used in e-juice. We'll see...

This is the third day and I have not been itchy and have not had to take the medicine!!!

-------------------------- All the way until late last night, so it must still be in my system, OR it is something else, or in combination with Splenda and something else.... More will be revealed...

I did taste one BIG drop of bitter Stevia extract from a tester bottle at the health food store...

OK, I received my sucralose today. I'm giving it another thought or two (perhaps three). Sucralose is not a naturally occurring substance and is NOT broken down in the body. Let me repeat this another way, sucralose is in use as a sugar substitute specifically for the reason that it does not break down in the digestive track.

Taking a step back, I don't think it's a good idea to be inhaling micro-fine particles of something that is not going to be broken down by your body. Eating it is one thing, however inhaling it into your lungs could be really, really bad for you.

That being said, I did try about three drops of sucralose in 3ml of fluid and it was sweet. However I let my atty go a little to dry at one point and got a flavor that I can only describe as weird and "fishy". Not the normal dry atty flavor, much worse IMHO. I don't think I'm going to continue with the sucralose. I'll be donating the sucralose to my diabetic friends or using it in smoothies.

It didn't occur to me, we have some stevia in the refrigerator that I hadn't tried in e-juice. It gives us heartburn so the stevia has been sitting there unused since this spring. It is a 2 oz bottle of "Sweet Leaf" brand SteviaClear liquid stevia. I mixed 6 drops of the stevia into a 5ml bottle of orange flavor that wasn't sweet at all and I'm finding it VERY enjoyable now. (still missing sour though, hmmmm)

For those who want to know, the SweetLeaf contents read as follows:
Proprietary blend: 0.5ml (probably PG I'm guessing)
Purified Water
Stevia leaf extract
Other ingredients: Grapefruit seed extract*

* As guessing they are adding the grapefruit seed extract acts as a natural preservative.

My vote:
Sucralose NO!

Stevia YES!!!

My 2 cents,
Seth

UPDATE!

I have only had to use the CM pills for my itching on three occasions in the 16 days since the last "itching post", so it is looking like Sucralose is indeed the culprit...

Glad to hear it!

Have you tried Ethyl Malto, for vaping at least? It not as sweet as the sucralose of stevia, but it definitely has a sweet flavor.

I waited for a long time for a specific vendor to finally get EM after all I had read up on it early last year, but now that I have Cotton Candy, from what I read, that is what the EM is...

If anyone knows that the EM is better or different than LorAnns Cotton Candy, let me know!

Does EM smell or taste like a light version of LorAnns Pineapple (super strong!) like I smell from the LorAnns Cotton Candy?

LorAnns Marshmallow is good, just something about it that eludes me... I would definitely like it to be vapable by itself... from what I understand, Perfumers Apprentice has a toasted Marshmallow that can be vaped by itself.

If I had my drothers, I would prefer an English toffee that actually tastes like English toffee, Specifically, a Skor candy bar. For years I preferred the Almond Roca or See's Candies English Toffee, but since quitting analogs, have really fallen in love with the Skor bar. LorAnns and Capella do not hit the mark. Nor do they hit the mark when they are mixed. Maybe a third product mixed in, plus of course some sweetener, probably non-bitter Stevia Glycerite. Heck, maybe the Capella's with Stevia would do the trick. I have tasted 2 vendors versions and am really disappointed with how weak they are. I vape a relatively strong % of flavor (primarily mixing my own), and don't want a flavor that barely-hints-at-something-like-a-memory-of-sort-of-the-flavor I like.:(

I think I read that Lorann marshmallow is just EM, similar to how TFA cotton candy is just EM. Could be wrong, I haven't messed with Lorann and didn't really read this thread. I'm happy with ethyl maltol for everything so far.

Description: Ethyl maltol has a very sweet, fruit-like odor of immense tenacity and sweet, fruity
taste with initial hitter-tart flavor; rapid loss of flavor per se. It is four to six times more potent than maltol.

Taste threshold values:Taste characteristics at 70 ppm: sweet, burnt cotton, sugar candy-like with
jamy, strawberry notes.

Info on NuNaturals Pure Clear Liquid Stevia from their wesite (Can be bought at GNC Health stores).

Ingredients:
Water, 20% Pure Grain Alcohol (from various grains), 15% Vegetable Glycerine (Derived from Palm)

Our Pure Liquid Clear Stevia Extract contains 200 mg per ml and is in a base of vegetable glycerine and 20% pure grain alcohol.

Contains no soy, yeast, wheat, milk, synthetics, msg, artificial colors or flavors, preservatives, saccharin, aspartame, sucralose, or artificial sweeteners.

We are using natural flavors that are plant based extracts. These extracts help to increase the sense of sweetness and rounds out the flavor of our NuStevia as well as Pure Liquid Clear Stevia, Vanilla Stevia and Alcohol Free products. From endless consumer feedback, we know that people regard our NuStevia products as the best tasting and sweetest products on the market. Even though we are selling Stevia as a dietary supplement, we know taste is very important to people.

The natural flavors are natural plant extracts from herbs and berries. These natural flavors do not contain any MSG (monosodium glutamate) or any other “natural flavors” that are known to cause allergic reactions in the body. We do scrutinize the ingredients that we use very carefully and would not use an ingredient known to cause reactions.

We do not wish to disclosure the source of the natural flavor because it is a trade secret. We have spent a lot of time researching and developing the best tasting Stevia products on the market and do not wish to share this information with other companies selling Stevia..

We have been adding these natural flavors to our Stevia products for over 4 years and have not received any communication from the people using our Stevia products about negative reactions. There have been over a half a billion servings sold without one negative reaction reported to NuNaturals. With that track record, we am extremely confident that our Stevia products are very non-allergenic.

The Two Forms of Stevia

There are 2 forms of Stevia that are presently sold in the US. One is approved as a dietary supplement by the FDA and the other as a sweetener. NuNaturals sells both forms.

Our sweetener line is called NuStevia Sweetener. The product that we have introduced is NuStevia Sweetener, Stevia Baking Blend. In the future we will introduce table top sweeteners as well.

All of NuNaturals other Stevia products are dietary supplements. Why continue to sell Stevia as a dietary supplement? The answer is complex. The form of Stevia that is FDA approved as a sweetener is an extract of Stevia that contains greater than 95% of rebaudiosides, a component of the Stevia extract. The reasons are complex why the FDA has approved one form but not the other seeing how both forms have a good deal of research regarding safety. The main reason seems to be that the rebaudioside extract is seen as an isolated compound of Stevia whereas the dietary supplement form is more of a whole extract comprising of all the components of the Stevia extract. The FDA traditionally prefers to approve single components versus multiple component compounds.

We will continue to offer the dietary supplement form based on the steviosides extract (more of a whole plant extract) for 2 reasons, taste and cost. We also believe base on safety studies and population use for decades by a very large number of people that the stevioside form of Stevia is safe.

Our dietary supplement form of Stevia has a superior taste to the rebaudioside extract. The rebaudioside extracts have a lingering somewhat unpleasant aftertaste. NuNaturals NuStevia dietary supplement products do not have any unpleasant lingering aftertastes. Most people prefer our NuStevia dietary supplement extracts to any other Stevia extract on the market including other dietary supplement forms of the Stevia extract.

Because the cost of the stevioside extract is about 7 times less expensive than the rebaudioside extract, the cost per serving is less for the dietary supplement form versus the sweetener form of Stevia when considering sweetening power of both. In order to get the same sweetness from rebaudioside products on the market, you would have to use 2-3 packets to get the sweetness of 2 tsp of sugar. With NuNaturals NuStevia packets, you would only need to use 1 packet to taste the same sweetness.

Seems safe to use in E-Liquids to me........Vapor on :vapor:
