I ordered some DIY things, and one of the flavors I ordered (Flavor Apprentice) is coffee. I was wondering...if it tastes too bitter, what should I add to sweeten it a bit? Thanks! I realized the day after I placed my order that I usually add cream and sugar to my coffee so I'm a bit worried that I won't like the flavor. If nothing else, I have some vanilla ejuice that I ordered with my starter kit that I can add.

Vanilla would probably go very well with the coffee. You can try Ethyl Maltol (Cotton Candy) -- it's not a sweetener per se, it's more the flavor of sweet, if that makes any sense. It tends to smooth juices out when you add a little bit to a juice. If you actually want it sweeter, then go for sucralose (sucralose is what you're getting when you purchase sweetener from vandors).

Zal's right on the money. Try the Cotton Candy first (about 1 drop per ml to start). If that's too weak, go for some sucralose (I use EZ Sweets - use very sparingly). Before dismissing Cotton Candy, though, let it steep in the juice for a day. I've found that it's a sneaky little sweetener that doesn't show its face right away.

Also, avoid the temptation to try TPA's Sweet Cream. It's nothing of the sort. Picture vanilla ice cream mixed with month-old sour milk.

TPA=The Perfumers Apprentice which is were the Flavor Apprentice is. (Us old folks can have trouble when folks go changing names from TPA to TFA particularly when we already know of FA as Flavour Art.)

I got EZ Sweets from Amazon. It was a bit pricey, but the 3 little bottles I got will last me the rest of my life. Sorry about the acronym, and thanks to Hoosier for clearing it up for me.

You've gotten a lot of good info on sucralose, but I hate that stuff. I much prefer liquid stevia, the stuff I get is NuNaturals from GNC. I use 1 drop per ml.

Good point. Sucralose definitely isn't my first choice. It's a slower acting sweetness that only really seems to come through as part of the aftertaste. It is very strong, however. I haven't come across Stevia in liquid form yet, but I plan to pick some up the next time I'm near a GNC.

I recently pick up some liquid Sucralose from Tasty Vapor and am having very good results with it.

For the tastes I was looking for, Cotton Candy wasn't getting it done. It takes the edge off juices but nevery realy made it sweet for me. Where as with Sucralose, I can make juices candy sweet if I choose to. But that is just my taste. YMMV

Thanks for the link, I've been meaning to try that too along w/my other array of sweeteners. I also use 1 drop of EM w/1 drop of Agave Nectar. That is quite nice also. No it does not gum up my attys. The Nunaturals stevia I also use. Depends on the flavoring and what tastes best to me.

are you talking about mixed cotton candy juice or the pure flavoring?

Awesome! Thanks everyone! I did mix up a small batch of "mocha" (choc + coffee) and it definitely needs a little sweetener. Look forward to trying the EZ Sweetz.

The flavoring.

I tried putting 1 drop of CC flavoring per 10ml of mixed juice in a few juices but it puts the cotton candy taste in them. I think I'll just have to figure out a way to effectively administer the powdered sucralose I got. If that doesn't do it I'll try the stevia.
